Hey ####,
After running the 327's for over 6 months, and with a false mdf floor/abr flyer batt box/fridge always in the back, I am disappointed with the height at the rear. Even with 10psi in my airbags running around town, the rear end never quite levels at the ride height you want, and it always looks saggy to me.
I've had a pair of 487's sitting in the garage for 6 months now, 430mm free height, 280lb/in, so should sit 20mm higher than the 327's. I'll get them in soon and try them without the airbags first.
I'm currently running 30mm longer swaybar links in the rear, with a 618mm open length shock. I have some longer Toytec brake lines to put in soon, so I'll also be measuring at what open length the swaybar binds at with the 30mm longer links.
I'm hoping to run an 11" shock (or longer closed 10") to recover the 1" of droop I'll prolly lose when I put in the 487 coils. The 487's will prolly put the rear around 3" of lift, and with 1:1 motion ratio, you'll lose 1" of droop going from 2" to 3" lift.
I don't think the swaybar will fully straighten at the extended link at full droop, so it may not be possible to get the full 30mm of extra swaybar length added back into a longer open length shock.
That figure of 630mm open length for the MR59-60682 might be getting close to the limit with 30mm longer links and longer brake lines.
Will be good to know these numbers, as I don't wanna run with my swaybar out or space my bumpstops and lose bump travel. The rear end of the Prado is a pain to get sitting right, and I'd like to keep 100mm of droop at 3" lift.
Anyone got the closed length for that MR59-60682?
Best
Mark

Shouldn't really matter, as the adjuster can just be wound up on the strut, however, their quoted lift figures from various coils will be different relative to the factory strut.

They *may have just used the Hilux part numbers for Prado.
That's one of the reasons I said I'm not sure the specs are ideal.
*may is may have, not have.
Something else for you Mark, new part number 627, it's a 327 @ 420mm (10mm longer)
I will be using these from now on as 327 does not give 50mm with 100-300kg.
My Prado rear coil range is:
325 no load.
627 100-200kg
487 200-300kg
Cheers

Hey all,
I'd also be interested to hear what the closed/open lengths are on the front struts. Hopefully #### can check some measurements for everyone soon!
Looks like price-wise they are in direct competition with Amada Xtreme remote res at around 300 bucks.
Both Dobinsons and Amadas have a leaky history with their seals, so will be interesting to see how these new Dobinsons go.

IMO a lot dearer, more than double the price. Depending on use, maybe not required.
They were not required till now...........$$$$
I was given the specs, but not sure about if they are ideal.
I'm fitting some probably next week or 2, will have some feedback after then.
They are drip feeding the stock, that will keep people fighting over them once there is plenty of stock in the country I might throw a set in mine, but then there is another new product from another supplier I need to test out. Time will tell.
615mm is getting a bit long in the rear full ext, yes res are piggy backed on rears.
I think the front might be about 560 ish from memory.

I have ordered a set for for my new, to me, 120. I had Bilstein/Dobinsons on my last 120 and was not happy, had too much of a boat feeling around corners.
I went with:
Front: MR59-50221
Rear: MR59-60701 (longer droop - 615mm)
I had the option of going the MR59-60682 for the rear for an even longer rear droop of 630mm mated with a progressive spring but was concerned about the swaybar limiting the travel, then if i extended it having issues with brake lines etc.

Interesting, I didn't think they were out yet.

Rear: MR59-50701
Do we have specs, and what is the cost?
Ok, just rang, $330 per shock, fitting in SA approx $450 Stock is about a month away. Rear shocks the reservoir is on the shock, the fronts have a separate reservoir that requires mounting.Last edited by photoprado; 05-08-2015, 11:00 AM.
