Pedders vs Lovells GVM

Hi Folks
Has anyone had experience with either the Pedders or Lovells GVM upgrades?
The Prado seems a bit of a floaty boat with standard suspension as our Pajero initially did and will need the extra 500Kg these kits offer.
We are coming from the 2015 Pajero with OME lift. The Paj has served us well but with 180,000 km (only expense other than regular service has been rear wheel bearings) and the remote travel we do thought it would be a time to upgrade.

Got a Lovells GVM Upgrade on my 2018 GXL pre-rego. The Dealer organised it and got a good deal from TJM to install it.
It has served me well over nearly 100,000kms: Googs Track, North Flinders Ranges, Simpson Desert, Gibb River Road a couple of times, 2 treks across the mighty Carson River Track, the Tanami Road etc.

You don't need brake pad upgrades, the OEM ones are fine. I replaced my rear pads at 90,000km, the front will go past 100,000km. The real wear comes from leaving traction control on when driving over sand and thru mud etc. Sand dunes are full of quartz grit which grinds the pads.

Also, if driving long distances on gravel roads and sand, get the KAON rear shocker stone guards, you won't regret it.

If you've driven a conventional Pajero you'll notice a much smoother ride over corrugations in the Prado.
Pajeros (non sport version) have a monocoque hull which makes the ride hopelessly jarring over corrugations.

Interesting the Pedders gvm kit has ceramic brake pads but Lovells doesn't.

Also the Lovells kit from Superior Engineering gives the option of rear springs as below.

2 x Rear Coil Springs- Raised (GVM) OR 2 x Rear Coil Springs- Constant Load (GVM)

I have to give them a call to find out more about these springs.

In the end i decided not to get GVM upgrade. Did some numbers on expected payload and thought i should be just under.....hopefully or ill just pay the extra $500 post reg.

Can came alot quicker than expected

Once i get a bar fitted and other bits will go over weigh bridge and double check it.

If ok still with weight i will most likely get Dobinson IMS set up

Nice, I think staying under and not needing it is the best way to go. Not sure if that will work in my use cases.

I'm going to get in touch with an engineer and see what I can do without the full kits but just the same Dobinsons IMS. See if I can get some extra capacity over stock.

Lovells gvm parts can be purchased for about $1,000 less if u don't get the gvm kit so u pay that extra $1,000 for the plate. You can find part numbers in the lovells catalogue

Hi all. Just got a quote for Lovells gvm upgrade for a Prado 150 and these are the part numbers they have quoted.

Get a couple of quotes. There's more than one shop that do the install.
Or wait for the next 4WD show, you'll get a better deal at the show.
