Superior Engineering is offering various compliant GVM upgrades for the Prado 150, including one for a 4" lift and 33" wheels.
They all come with remote reserviour shocks, for those who want to tempt fate off road.
    It'll cost tho'.

F3lix, any luck getting in touch with an Engineer? I messaged a bunch of VASS VicRoads signatories, no one was interested and say either Lovells or Pedders

Trying to find the spring rates for the Lovells TRR 119HD to compare that to other springs and try to gauge how stiff it might be. Lovells said it was a constant 300kg spring. To me that sounds too stiff when driving around unloaded.

Id be happy with an extra 200kg GVM ideally but i guess you can get it through updgrading suspension but its not certified

I have a mate that got Pedders GVM and he is happy, but with lockdowns cant get out to try it

I end up doing the GVM upgrade with Lovells in Camberfield. The ride is pretty good. I am happy with it.

Went a Lovells GVM upgrade.. One year on its being removed. Terrible ride quality. Going ARB BP51 instead which are far better in ride and support.

Hi, do u have any accessories fitted in the back? I have a mate that got Pedders GVM and has been happy. I assume Lovells and Pedders would be similar

Hey, why was the ride terrible, too stiff and jittery I assume? Bloke at Lovells said he drives a Ranger and the Prado GVM is a better ride than stock Ranger.

Hard to know as alot is personal preference.

I imagine the Bp51 set up is like a limousine

I personally found a lot that comes out of Lovells and its sales people/ engineers/ fitters mouths to be BS. Super rough, to a point I've stopped driving the car as its that uncomfortable to drive. I have found that by keeping about 100+ Kilos in the rear of car its somewhat better, but this has drawbacks too.

Old mate forgot to mention the ranger is set up for a 1 tonne payload, and has leaf springs too I bet, Yet another Lovells knobber spinning tales by the sounds of it.

Overall, Way too stiff, and I haven't got the big boy springs in rear.. Front has sagged and had to be worked on 3 times now. Car handles horribly, Doesnt feel safe in corners since the Lovells went on. I have driven different Prados and 200 crusiers with ARB BP51 and KING shocks, and the ride quality is hundreds of miles above Lovells ride and handling.

It's hard to find good advice on this topic, thanks for the tips guys. I know a lot of this comes down to personal opinion, which is why I'm finding it hard to choose a supplier for our GVM.

Currently going through this myself. So far I'm reviewing Lovells, ARB, Dobinson and have been advised to check Pedders and that Kings is good but expensive.

I'd welcome further feedback from those who do have a GVM upgrade on the brand and if you like it or not?

I also don't trust forum posts from guests with no history, it's too easy these days for companies to spend a few hours promoting their best interests!

If you want a legally compliant GVM upgrade without paying for a custom engineered solution then the list of options is short.
Lovells, Pedders and Superior Engineering are advertising compliant GVM Upgrades for the Prado 150.

                      Hi Mate
I had a pedders pre gvm upgrade. I’ve noted it on here previously with the exact details, but DO NOT go down the pedders route. They supply factory length shocks with their lifted kits. Mine “topped out” at the slightest bumps and rode horridly. (And yes it was loaded heavily).
Ended up loosing the pre rego gvm and got a Dobinsons ims kit engineered. Chalk and cheese.
Pedders even gave me a full refund with no questions asked as they admitted that they don’t have the right shocks for their own kits.
My mates experience with lovells has been a rough ride too.
It’s pretty disappointing that such a big name can sell such a rubbish product and charge a premium for it.

                          Hi All,

from the posts doesnt sound like Pedders or Lovells GVM upgrades are very good has any one found a better solution??
I'm looking into a GVM upgrade now as im on my limit but not convinced with costs and brands.

                          Thanks for any information

Hi mate, as in the link above. A bit of discussion on getting a standard lift passed by an engineer.

Thanks for the info Daniel150, i did read info in the link but no real answer. Would like to know if any one has had any standard lift passed, seems like lovell gvm installed and later changed out.
Does that mean the gvm isnt legal? Have they only changed the the shockers or the full kit. Thanks

So any standard lift can be past for a gvm increase up to the maximum axle weights of 3250kg.
I had pedders 3500kg lift and gvm, for reasons stated above it was removed and a dobinson standard 2 inch lift installed and certified by an engineer for the 3250kg.
Any brand can have this done quite easily
