  • Kakadu suspension control ecu

Thought I'd start a new post instead of just adding to my last post regarding the rear airbag issue on my Kakadu. So it went to Toyota yesterday and they confirmed what the auto leccy told me that the issue is the control ecu and needs replacing. Everything else works fine just the ecu isn't telling everything what to do . They quoted $1325 for part plus $270 labour .So $1600 total. My question is because I've possibly found a second hand unit . Can you just disconnect old ecu and plug in new one and away she goes and nothing more needs to be done? Or does the ecu need to be coded in or something? My other option is to rip out the airbags and put in coils for $725 fitted . Second-hand ecu is $450 delivered . Just trying to figure out best option. Any help appreciated. Cheers

    Whats the part number?

Still dubious myself, when the system locks up for longer and longer, it makes it look like the ECU is shot... But in a number of cases I have found they aren't.

I will try getting it this afternoon Piggy. How can I make sure ecu is buggered before I fork out for new one?

Depends if someone has followed the correct reset procedure as mentioned on the other thread. When I first saw the issue, ARB and 3 Toyota dealers had no idea how to even sort it out. A lot of reading found the document that showed how to do it. Its posted on this forum in a thread. Google and search will bring it up.

Getting a part number enables the option of buying it from a different source if its needed too. Partsouq or amayama

Part number is 89293-60060. Is the procedure bridging pin 4 and 13 on diagnostic plug? Ive reset compressor a few times by having ignition on and pumping brake pedal 8 times . Toyota really had no idea what they were doing i think. They followed their procedure and concluded ecu is faulty .

Check on some of the GX460 forums. I'm sure it probably uses the same/similar tech.

It varies. EG our Launch picks up more codes than a much dearer Snap On!

$807 for brand new toyota part. https://partsouq.com/en/search/all?q=89293-60060

No its not reset by bridging Pins, and brake pedal. Needs to be done thru a scan tool or techstream, or Toyota computer.
