After having XGS Gold fitted by a certain TJM Dealer i drove away happy knowing the wheel alignment had been done that i had paid for ???
Three months later i had new tyres fitted only to be informed the wheel alignment had never been done at TJM. My tyre dealer advised he knew this was the case as the cmber adjustment locking bolts etc were very shiny and had no spanner markings etc. The end result was a massive positive camber with horrible handling and steering.
I had the alignment adjusted properly with great results.

The lesson i learned from this was TJM are not to be trusted when it comes to properly aligning your truck after a lift. Get it checked by an alignment specialist to make sure it has been done properly.
I also learned not to purchase TJM products ever again.
ARB are looking good to supply all of my next accessories.

I contacted TJM head office but their response was we will call you back but still waiting for that call.

Not good mate, not good at all...

Might be worth - rather than phone calls - to contact the head office directly via email, this leaves an electronic copy of both an original (yourself) and tracking through the servers at the main office. I have found in the past that this works much better at getting a response than a phone call - whereby they can claim that the message was never passed along.

before you get a lift ask if the alignment is done buy the company installing the lift, or is it done buy a 3rd party, if it is the 3rd party you will pay for the alignment as well as the bit the installer tacks on, just a thought. cheers samo

The lesson i learned from this was TJM are not to be trusted when it comes to properly aligning your truck after a lift.

Maybe they forgot, maybe they were rushed, maybe the mechanic didnt give a rats and was about to be fired, maybe someone made a mistake?

What did the TJM store manager say when you approached him?

Did he offer to recompense you in some way?

I havent bothered to contact the dealer direct only TJM themselves
I will not be going back to the dealer for anything

TJM will get no further business from me
Once you burn me i dont go back for more

The main thing is the issue is sorted and luckily at the time i had Grandcraps on so not so expensive.

Hold on.... Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought you would be able to tell if the wheels weren't aligned ... Especially after 3 months. Didn't the car pull to the left/right on it's own?

So you have never made a mistake? If you did make one would you want to be told and be given the opportunity to fix it?

I would agree with you if spoke to them and you werent happy with the response.

Maybe we see things differently but I have made a few mistakes in life and have learnt from them.

I also have to agree with this, I would have contacted the store in question with a WTF? I fully agree that it is not good enough but mistakes happen and if I happened to be the Manager of the TJM Store in question I sure would have liked to have been told about it so that I could fix it and keep you as a customer. I am glad that it is all sorted for you but I would still contact the store manager and have a chat and explain what you found.

Sometimes we have to get back to the basics of communication and talk directly to the people involved rather than jumping on the phone to head office or composing emails in the heat of the moment. The best advice would have been to return to the store where the install was performed and talked to the store manager who in turn would have been able to check job sheets to firstly see what was done and who was responsible. I'm sure if you had brought it to the managers attention they would have attempted to fix the problem and maintain you as a customer as Daniel mentioned. And when you speak to someone in person they can see that you are annoyed and put out from body language which is something that can't be communicated over the phone. I also agree with Daniel and go and talk to the store manager. I'm sure there are other members that have had issues with other service providers throughout the years.

You didn't notice when you first got it back from TJM after the suspension install? seems unfair to say it had " horrible" handling and steering if you didn't notice for three months and then it took a third party to point it out. What's the go there?

Where's the before and after alignment print out?

Also seems unfair and an over reaction considering they told you they use a third party to do the alignment. Seems they may have got shafted by the alignment shop as much as you did.

All seems like a bit of knee jerk over reaction at this stage to me. Why wouldn't you just contact the TJM dealer and give them a chance to sort it out? why jump straight up the food chain?

Just letting you all know my experiences with TJM

Funny thing is that TJM dealer called my last Friday to see why my Prado had not come back for suspension check.
I informed them of my issue with them

They didnt seem to interested in resolving the matter and were not too sorry about the situation.

Like I said you need to go and see the store manager face to face and tell him the problem. Business is not best done over the phone but rather have a talk in person.

I am a supervisor and it does my head in some of the dumb and outright deceitful things that your workers get up to.

I have actually lost sleep this weekend trying to work out the best way to deal with three of them not doing the job properly last week. I heard we cant whip them anymore

This is my understanding of your greviance (sp?) to date, pradodiesel, correct me if i'm wrong?

A little over 3 months ago, you approached TJM, for the fitment of one of their suspension upgrades, agreed to price and conditions, acknowlegdes that wheel alignment would be done by a 3rd party, paid for and drove away happy and satisfied (probably also proud and excited) - not once noticing that the car handled in anyway, shape or form, worse than it had prior to fitment of the lift kit? If your anything like me - letting go of the steering wheel to check for pull, braking hard to check for pull, a little side-to-side to check balance and feel, speed run to check for wobble... ?

Recently, you took your prado to your regular tyre dealer to have tyres replaced because they were worn? Completely, without any thought that there might be anything else wrong with anything other than worn just the tyres? This dealer, told you that you needed an alignment, because "blah, blah ... the last one wasn't done correctly ... blah blah"? Had you originally requested an alignment? or just the tyres?

On this one statement alone, which you have taken as absolutely 100% correct, you've turned around and slammed TJM for all work that they have done or may do, and their product range? Adding to this, without giving TJM adequate feedback, oppertunity to respond or address any issue they or the 3rd party may or may not have?

Sounds to me, a little too much of a jump to conclusion, instead of good follow up and checking. Might I ask, what your prado has been used for in the months inbetween the two checks? Any offroading, sand bashing, driven into/over a curb or two, jumps maybe? Surely, I would think, that 3 months have gone by without you putting your new suspension to the test? Took me 3 days before i tried mine out...

I'm not trying to discredit, or pass blame from one to another, but it doesn't seem like you have given anybody any chance in any form to check out their quality of workmanship, to check their records, a chance to rectify the issue if fault can be found, and its all based on one comment - not as it were your inpression on the feel of your vehicle... Just my thoughts...

Just to let you know that you won't feel anything through your streering or baking test after a lift kit is put in an IFS suspension. The only thing that really changes is your camber, not caster. The car still drives straight but is wearing the inside edge of the tyres. Look at V8 Super cars, F1 cars, they all run negitive camber but drive and brake straight.

I'm not saying here who should get the final blame for Pradodiesel's work, I just know what it is like as I too got a crap wheel alignment. On my prado after putting brand new tyres on, I saw the tread wearing different after an 8000km trip. Drove great, loved it, but the tryes were getting worn out from the camber out of alignment. Took it to another tyre mob and they too told me the camber was way out on both sides. Got it fixed, drove the same but wearing the tyres evenly.
