I figure eventually I could sell them although it may take a while. I like the 2nd set as it allows for a road set and if we are happy with the ST Maxx all the time then we can use the worn ones around town and use new or the ones with plenty of tread for off road use. I have been told don't go on big trips with less than 50% tread. This allows us to run them down separately.
The Yoka's are great around town and actually not bad off road. We are going to some large sharp rocks, so the LT construction and tread depth should help (I hope).
How do you find the power effected with the bigger tyres?
Cheers

I'm surprised that the 818 mm diameter don't rub on the mudflap, if you turn the wheel. Mine (about 808) rub under light breaking when the wheel is turned to the right.2013 Kakadu, pearl white, Cooper ST MAXX 275 65 18 123Q tyres, Safari Snorkel, ARB UVP, diff breathers, UHF GME TX3345, Red Arc 2nd battery, BMW luggage hdp, tint, ARB bull bar, synthetic winch, OME 2" lift, LED Intensity spot lights, ARB side steps, Kaymar rear bumper with 2 JC, spare and LED pole ligh, ARB compressor, ARB front air locker, Toyota rear diff lock.

I am reading this post with great interest! I am about to go buy a Prado - either a VX or a GXL - I do a fair bit of off roading and I am cautious now about reading this thread about the KDSS and whether bigger tyres foul. I am buying the new face lift and I would love the cooper AT/3 or the BF but not going to change down to a 17" rim - has anyone managed to fit new 18" tyres (AT/3 or ST MAXX) with success in the new facelift?

Yep. Just fitted Cooper ST Maxx's 275/65 R18's to our 150 Series VX. Looks great. Fit well (1/2 degree forward castor - just in case). Spare fitted directly to rear door mount with all plastics removed. <mod edit>Last edited by amts; 04-07-2014, 10:27 AM.

Thanks Mike Brady - appreciate that! Good to know the ST MAXX fit. I am running these on my current car and very happy! I was wondering if I was going to have run a second set of tyres but seems as though I should be right.... I think I will buy a cheap 18" rim to run a spare road tyre on the rear when wife is plugging around town and have the 6th wheel with a cooper to take away on trips - Naturally I assume Mike the rear wheel cover does not fit wit the coopers?

Hey guys,
After putting 75,000kms on the factory Grandcraps, it's time for some new tread on my Kakadu. At this point I'm looking at Hankook Dynamo ATMs. My question is what size. They come in factory standard 265/60R18 but I'm considering the 275/65R18. I am however really nervous about clearance particularly to the upper control arm at the front. There are reports of caster adjustments on this forum etc. Suspension is stock so no lift etc. What has anyone had issues with clearance on an un-lifted rig.
Also what are people's experiences with Hankook dynapro ATMs? They come highly re comments by my brother who runs 3 4x4s spraying weeds in the high country so he's putting 60,000 kms on 3 cars in some pretty rough country with a heap of weight and he swears by them.....but he seems to be the only one?
Thanks
Troy

GXL rims won't fit however others have fitted FJ wheels ok. Without a lift you will find 285/70s will rub as will 315s setting aside legalities. Why so big on the tyres? Most have good success with 265/70. But even then check with your insurer and the RTA for legalities. My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Prado Vx - can it use Prado GXL wheels?
I checked with Toyota on this topic and they referred me to dealership. I checked with dealership and they confirmed that the Vx and Gxl wheels are compatible, brakes are the same size on both vehicles, and that KDSS poses no issue. Same for FJ Cruiser wheels. Not sure what to do now.
Has anyone got Gxl wheels on Vx and is running them OK?

Do all 265/70R17 tyres work well? Probably this size is my best bet now.
