    Reviving this thread again.
Could anyone confirm if Pirelli AT Plus 265/265 R18 will fit on stock Toyota rims without any issues?
I have read that this tyre size in BF's fits on stock rims but wanted some feedback on Pirelli's

If the vehicle model you are buying did not have a smaller diameter rim as an option. You will need to have it signed off by the local transport authorities. This may require engineering certificates.
If another model (GXL, VX etc) of the same type of vehicle had the smaller diameter wheels then you will be able to easily have it signed off. This is what i have had to do on my 200 Series to go from 18" to 17" (Which did not come as standard on my particular model " Sahara") .

Why does this need to be done? Ask any insurance assessor who will be looking for ANY way to get his company out of paying out your insurance in an accident claim situation. "Oh, Non standard wheels, Claim refused".. Seen it happen before. Hence having them approved and legal is a smart move.

I am picking up a Kakadu next week and have asked the dealer if they can find someone to swap the 19inch rims out for the 17inch from a GXL. He didn't seem to think it was an issue and would let me know in a day or two.

My understanding is that, provided your outer tyre diameter remains with 50mm of the original spec, you’re ok with any combo. Anyone happy to back that info?

    1000l at $1.5 per/l is $1500 not $15K. I take 5 years to do 100,000Km. $300 a year in fuel isn’t too much to worry about.

Any issues I should anticipate here on our 2015 VX 150 D4D, or a good option for uor 5 week trip from Vic to Central Aus?

Some seriously damaging roads in the Kimberleys (eg Mitchell Plateau), Cape Leveque, and then across the Gibson to Alice through various tracks. I consider the BFG's the best insurance I could have had. Had two spares on the roof and one on the back, never touched. The same four tyres brought me home 17,000 km later. I saw a lot of carnage with other well known brands. Only problem was when I went to rotate them when I got home. There was large bits of rubber missing from the knobs on the rear treads so much that they could not be successfully balanced on the front. All is well with 60,000 km on those tyres now and still looking like a good 20k to go. I say they are excellent value.
The other best insurance was new Bilstein shocks and Dobinson springs with lift from Zordos in Brisbane. With 200kg on the roof and a full load inside it never bottomed out once through the washouts. PS throw away the wheel cover and bracket, it's only a flimsy bit of plastic.
Did these fit the factory VX/Kakadu 18" rims without issues and no need for a suspension lift? Do they still make a current equivalent? Mat

    19vince19 did you ever try 265/70 18?

    Hi All,

    Good day.
Ive been reading this thread and it seems like there is no mention of the size that i want. I have a 2014 Kakadu with r18 rims. I want to upgrade to a taller tyre and i dont have a lift kit (that will be for the near future).
With people saying they put 275/65 r18 and 285/60 r 18, and seems like they dont have an issue with it, have anyone tried to put on 265/70 r18? why is it there is no mention of this size in this thread? are there any issues in putting that size?
Thanks in advance for any inputs.

Hey, just a question to the guys who have fit BFG 2KO's 265/65/18, can anyone confirm if the spare wheel cover fits over these? 2018 VX getting them put on and want to keep the cover.
