  • 2014 150 Series GXL Rear Wheel offset different left and right

    Hi There
I may be using the wrong terminology (ie offset) but I have a question. Today I was tinkering around measuring the width of the my Prado at the rear guards left to right. In doing so, I noticed that the right rear tyre was almost flush or plumb with the rear guard where as the left tyre was 20-25mm in. To explain it another way, imagine if you ran a spirit level from the top of rear guard to the ground plumb, my right rear tyre touches the bottom of the spirit level when is plumb. When I do it on the left side, there is a gap of 20-25mm between the bottom of the plumb spirit level and the tyre. Is this normal? The suspension is std, I have slightly taller tyres (265/70/17s instead of 265/65/17s).

General rule; as the suspension is lifted or lowered the live axle will shift due to the panhard rod pulling it over. My axle (KZJ95) is about that amount shifted right with 40mm raised springs.
    cheers
    Steve

Assuming that the rims are all identical, this phenomena can be seen when the vehicle is lifted due to the mounting locations of the panhard rod. You mentioned that the vehicle is standard suspension. So I'm not sure how you have this offset happening unless you have a damaged panhard rod or a non standard panhard rod was fitted. Were you the one with an issue with the rear shock?

Not me re the rear shock. Its bog standard suspension and panhard rod, I have owned it since new. Never been hard core offroad, never been in an accident.
