2nd spare for 2016 GLX

After a 2nd spare. Melb based. First inquiry at wrecker - $850 for rim & tyre. Tyre : 265/65R17
There must be far more reasonable alternatives to that. 3rd party options??

It doesn't have to be alloy. A new steel wheel from Speedie with the right offset will do. My second spare for my 2016 is a steel wheel from a late 120 GX.[It was my spare for a 2005 VX with alloy wheels.] The offset is slightly different but it fits fine and does the job. With any luck carrying a second spare means you will never need it! Buy a new tyre for the main wheels and use the old one on your new steel spare.

If you can afford to wait. I have a second spare on a pre-2018 150 alloy rim.
I'm getting a separate set of steel 70% profiles purely for offroading next year, so I wont need the 2nd alloy spare. It will go for maybe $300.

Otherwise try Gumtree. There are usually some up for sale, usually a whole set tho.

Remember wheel nuts are usually different alloy to steel rim !

I have a set for the steel wheel but I think with the 150 they can use the 150 nuts anyway. I will double check. The spare nuts reside in the car anyway.

I'm in Adelaide.
I'll either bite the bullet and buy my 6 x 265/70 plus steel rims (+nuts) at the February 2019 camping show, or mid year. Prob Feb as I can get a good deal at the show.

I'll be selling my 2nd alloy (pre 2018 style) spare then (if not sooner).
