I generally run 32 on the front and 34 on the back with my 265/75 R16s (95 series) around town and a few extra pounds when loaded up and generally get around 90,000km out of a set with fairly even wear, despite the fact that I generally only rotate them once or twice - mainly due to slackness. A lot seem to run their tyres around 40psi but I find that way too hard.

Depends on the weight of your vehicle and how much weight your tyres carry at a given tyre pressure, I generally run 32-36 psi depending on weight. Here is a guide:

The calc I use is =(axle load/2) / (rated load/max pressure)
or for example (1320/2)/(1400/80)=37.7
And yes I have it in a spreadsheet.Last edited by adrian5800; 08-04-2019, 09:23 PM.Silver '04 KZJ120~Manual~GXL~Dobinson/Kings lift~Custom valved Ironmans~Detroit Locker~Endless Air~X9 Superwinch~Madman EMS1~TJM Dual Battery~Rhino Roof Tray~120W solar panel~Foxwing awning~Bushskinz UVP~Long Ranger water tank~Bushman fridge~Steinbauer P-Box~Beaudesert 2 3/4"~Airtec Snorkel~TJM Sliders~Prico Boost Gauge~BFG-KO2s~TPMS~GME TX3420~Front and Rear Cameras~Ultimate Camper hanging off the back!

when i got my BFG's the guy at Bob Jane's said that BFG had done extensive testing of the pressures on the prado & pajero and said 36psi was the correct setting
when i had some work done on the car my repco buddy said try your car now, and it drove like it was on rails, i asked what he did and he had raised the pressures to 50 in the front & 55 in the rear
then i went and weighed it (knowing the high weight 3500 he was spot on)
i have done over 30k onthe tyres and they are not showing any abnormal wear
i use this calculator from a van company
http://www.gnschassis.com.au/tyre-pressure-calculator/
same with the van the guy said 40 to 45 so i tried and they looked low, drove on them and pressure went to 59
pumped them up to 55 they went to 64 went to 65 they went to 69
did the calc and they should be 70 (van weighed 2350kg on single axle) ( used BFG alterains KO2 and they were the highest rated tyre i could fit)2008 Dune D4D manual GXL update - with lots of fruit !! + Roma Razorback Off Road Van
