I put Toyo Open Country A/T II on my 2013 Prado 68000kms ago, we’ve been to Birdsville, Innaminka twice, Flinders Ranges also done the Stryzlecki Track all while towing a van, done plenty of beach driving and have never had an issue. I also don’t find them noisy.
Had the wheel alignment done when they were fitted, never had to rebalance, I haven’t rotated them and they still have about 8mm of tread left.
To me it’s a no brainer but I know everyone has their favourites and stories.
    Cheers
    Phil

My 2 cents worth - I ended up going the BFG KO2's after shortlisting them, the Goodyear's and the Coopers. My decision at the time was swayed as Bob Jane actually gave me a $90 credit for each of my H/T tyres which were brand new on the car when I bought it as the previous owner put them on just before selling. I honestly could not fault the KO2's, they have been very good onroad and in the wet and have done everything I have asked of them offroad and in the dunes. I do a 5 tyre rotate every 10,000km and am just about to come up to 40,000km. I would certainly buy them again and have no complaints.

Thanks Piggy. I'll have to think about my options when I buy tyres later this year. I would have bought BFG's KO2's without thinking twice about it if you didn't share the issues. I had balancing problems with KO's but not KO2's.

The 3's are having similar issues too. Just looked at my mates work 4x4.. over 150 grams of weight on one rim to balance it!!!! There really is a lot better out there for cheaper or similar price.

Hey mate where did you get your tyres, I’m looking at the same setup to replace the standard tyres but with the current buy 4 get 1 free offer I’ve got prices of $1320 for 5

Was at Ian diffan in Wangara Perth, he quoted me wrong and when I went to pay it was $1250 but I showed him the quote and he accepted his mistake wich was good! As usually when they do the one free they put the per tire price up slightly and he didn’t when first quoting

nitto I think it’s all there dealers I seen a add online about it

Just got a full set Toyo A/T II fitted in 265/70/17. New tyres are always better than old tyres so time will tell. The only comment I have on them for now is that I'm surprised, and disappointed, at the amount of weight required to balance them. I've never seen so much weight on a rim.

BFG's are like that. Sometimes they balance with very little weight, others times you need quite a bit. Does your spare wheel cover fit over the larger tyre?

I suspect they didn't bother to rotate the tyre on the rim in an attempt to find the sweet spot before adding the weights.

No, the spare wheel cover does not fit. It is very close. If the tyre was 75% tread depth then it would probably squeeze on.

Wait til you get Toyo RTs. I have 265/70 R17 AT IIs and they are fine. They are some 6+ kgs heavier than the factory tyres tho. The 265/70 RTs are 10Kgs heavier than the factory tyres. Balancing anywhere between 0gms to lots of weights. They are similar to the BF KO2s in specs. 3 ply sidewalls etc. I use them to minimise sidewall punctures on remote tracks.
                              So far so good.

Am quite happy with these tyres. We just did a 3,000km round trip up to Mt Dare, across the WAA Line, out the Warburton Track and back down the Birdsville track. The only tyre related thing I worried about during the trip was the pressure. 18 front, 20psi rear on the sand dunes worked very well. I towed a Pod Extreme trailer (750kg fully loaded) with same wheels and tyres and ran them at 10psi and it floated over everything.
