  • TJM Airtec. $780 fitted????

I went to ACT's sole TJM distributor today and was quoted $420 for the unit and 4 hours labour. This seems ridiculous. He went on about how they water seal it and make sure it doesn't leak and then proceeded to tell me that the majority of snorkels you see around are dust-proof only, and are not for water crossings. I think this blokes a bit of a clown, anyone had one fitted recently? I don't like the look of the Safari on the 90 series but at around 570 fitted it seems like a logical choice at the moment.

Cost me $619 fitted on the 150 in WA - they will do the labour in stages but all up the actual time to do the physical labour should only be a couple hours.
2009 Prado 150 D4D GXL with 265/70R17 Cooper AT/3 tyres, Max Trax, HR tow bar, Airtec snorkel, UHF and the usual recovery gear. On the list: cargo barrier, Bilstein shocks and King springs, deluxe winch bar, 10000lb winch, Lightforce 240 XGT spotlights, dual spare wheel carrier

Thats a bit steep on the price, the snorkel should be about $500-$550 fitted. All snorkels are dust and water tight if fitted correctly, he is a bit of a tool to say otherwise, so I would go elsewhere if I were you.

I would if he wasn't the only distributor for TJM in ACT. Crazy huh? 1 shop servicing 300 000+ people.

Buy it from another TJM store in NSW or VIC, get it shipped to you and get a local 4wd shop to install it, or do it yourself...

Snorkel's are a must have, you never know when they come in handy. I have a Safari on my other car (ute) however the Airtecs look the goods for the 150. Is there a need to change anything such as the radiator overflow bottle etc with the AIRTEC?

Not that I know of Racer, simply matter of cut and plumb from what I've been told.

I think the airtecs look much smarter and suited to the Prado than others. Thanks for the response.
