Hi there,
Our 2000 Prado VX is making a strange noise. Initially, it happened systematically when braking but was also triggered from time to time even when not braking.
We went to see several mechanics and each time the answer we got was that they never heard that noise and did not know what could cause it.
At some point we were told there was air in the brake fluid lines and that the ABS pump was making that noise because it was pumping air. We bled the lines twice and it only seems to have made the noise even more frequent.
Now we’ve reached a point where the noise is happening every 10 seconds when driving, even when we’re not braking.
The mechanic bled the lines yesterday, only drove 15min and the fluid is already darker.
We took it to a brakes specialist: he initially thought that the pump needed rebuilding, but now he is not so sure…
Any ideas ? Thanks
