Just thought i'd point out the obvious and share a helpful tip. I've been a total goose and overlooked a very obvious solution here and have been troubleshooting all kinds of wiring/switch problems with my handbrake following the event of my handbrake warning light coming on/staying on on my dash.
If you have a situation where your hand brake warning lamp wont turn off or comes on whilst driving, it is very likely you simply need to top up your break fluid. I had no idea the break fluid reservior has any kind of sensor in it related to the handbrake but there you go! Year 2000 technology at it's finest!
