I've been having this problem lately, where after parking the car for a few hours, the brake lights will randomly turn on, and just drain the battery.
I've tried lifting the brake pedal, nothing changes. When i press the brake pedal down, the brake lights get slighty brighter.
I've tried removing the fuse that supplies the brake lights, that didnt turn them off. I've also tried removing a bunch of other random fuses, which didn't work either.
I started the car, and it didn't go away. Then after about 30min, i restarted the car, and the lights went off straight away
I noticed that most times, after driving for a bit, they go back to normal, until the next time it happens.
Any suggestions? it has an electronic trailer brake controller installed by the last owner, wondering if thats got anything to do with it?
Also recently had the alternator replaced and a new battery installed.
