1KZ major oil leak from sump gasket

The sump gasket of my 1kz Prado is pissing out oil. But the front diff is blocking access to get the sump off for re sealing. Is it as easy as unbolting the diff from the chassis and lowering it to gain access or is it a bigger job than that? Better off taking it to a mechanic to do?

Bit of a job without a hoist.
Drain the diff oil.
Front half shafts have to go, fair bit of work there.
Front prop shaft.
Breather.
Three diff mounting bolts then Arny to help you lift the bloody thing.
KZ’s have a foam block between sump and flywheel cover.
When years of road grime builds up, the sump can rust through at the foam block.

Are you sure it’s the sump as they’re sealed to the block with three bond. Never leak at that join unless someone has been there previously.

Hey carco, great to hear from you mate. Yeah, theirs a bit of back story here that just makes me mad when I tell it so was trying to avoid. I paid a local established mobile mechanic to help me install a new motor a couple of months back as the other one had a cracked head and then discovered piston/cylinder wall damage from a glow plug tip which had snapped off (previous owner). Mobile mechanic turned out to be an absolute idiot and made a dogs breakfast of the install. For example, he forgot to bolt down the passenger side engine mount and thats just the start of it!

Anyways, the new engine came out of a Hilux which has a different shaped sump so he had to swap them over from the original engine. 2 months later, it's now leaking oil very badly. Defitnately from the seam of the sump and the block. I've been under their cleaning it all back with break cleaner and trying to stop/slow the leak with RTV gasket sealant. It worked on one side but not the other. Really frustrating but sounds lke I am going to need to take it to the local mechanic and get it fixed. Bummer!
