Delayed turning over

Hi All, I have a 1997 3.4L SWB manual. Before I completely discharged my battery as a result of having the belt snap on me during a recent trip, I never had a problem with starting the car. Now that the battery is weak (I tried to charge it by driving long distances), there is about a 1-2 second hesitation when starting her. It is as if the car is deciding between turning over or dying from a weak battery, although it does eventually start much to my delight! I do not wish to harm the engine or electrics by putting on too much strain, should I just change to a new battery and get it over with?

Yes.. It has probably got to almost dropping a cell by the sounds of it.

Will take your advice and change it soon. The season is just about to start here and I have to be ready for action at a moment's notice.... Will report the results soon :lol:
