  • Timing belt question 5vz-fe

    5vz- fe v6 3.4 engine Is it normal for this much movement in belt at 2500rpm also note belt is about 3000kms old I’m trying to diagnose a bad noise

    Some good news and bad news for
    you....

    That belt deflection is perfectly normal.

    So, good news: Timing belt tension is not your problem.

    Now, bad news: Timing belt tension is not your problem.

    Keep looking.

    Have you verified, cam position with crank TDC? Check your belt tension on the passenger bank down to the crank... see if that has excess slack on it there.

      Ok guys sound the solution not good news

      The issue the cams have picked up alloy on the bearing journals and have way too much bearing clearance heads can’t be fixed so I’ll be up for a new set of heads or new engine
