Speed sensor designation

Hi all,
I have a TX Prado 2001 model Turbo Deisel and at present dont have a working speedo,
I had it scanned and it points to no 1 speed sensor with codes of p0500 and c1336/subcode 39.
My question is how are these speed sensors designated because I want to pull off the correct one and they are each over $200 dollars each

If you disconnect 1 and it throws a new code, then you've got the wrong one.

Yeah, but isn't there an easier way than pulling out the sensors.
Surely someone would know how they are designated either number or letter?

I thought there was only one sensor on the gearbox?

Yeah, but isn't there an easier way than pulling out the sensors.

Just un-plug them, take all of a minute, no need to physically remove them until you have the faulty on isolated.

I think there is only one sensor on the gearbox if it does not have traction control but mine does and hence a sensor on each wheel.
I'll try disconnecting each one at the wiring connector and have someone in the car to read the codes?

The sensor at the gearbox is for the speedo and ECU, the ones at each wheel (actually ABS brake sensors as traction control is an brake based) are for the traction control.
There may be another one on the trans for the gearbox ECU.

If the late 90 series trac is set up the same as 120 then you won't have a speed sensor on the rear of the transfer case , early 90s are different and are basic

I've got the wiring diagrams if needed

i am having a similar problem with the same model car! 2002 turbo diesel tx.
the connecting plug on my speedo sensor was knackered and the speedo was not working, but very occasionally it would work. the engine light would come on now and then and the idle would drop a little when this happened. so I got a 2nd hand plug and wired it up and it still isn't working.... also the cruise control would not work at all, not even the light on the dash. with the new plug the cruise light will come on but it does not engage... and I LOVE cruise control!

Please help me. Cleaned all sensors
no Speedo abs, vsc, park brake, engine light, no cruise. Anyone fix theirs

Same issue. 2000 model. Any news on a fix?
iv checked all abs wheel sensors and okay.
is there a seperate speed sensor for this model?
