So I was trying to change the fuel filter in my recently purchased 1996 Prado. However when I went to disconnect the fuel pump, I found the the white cable connector was impossible to disconnect. It doesn't even budge a bit. Any ideas on how I could solve this?

Is this the diesel ? If it is that’s the water sensor
Use multi grips to hold the filter and get another pair on the sensor and turn them can also do on a vice be easier,
just be careful as on older cars the plastic starts to age and can crack it to much force
think a new one is like $50 too if it breaks

Cruise SF,
Are you trying to change the fuel filter attached to the in tank pump or the in-line filter under the car in front of the sub-tank?
If it is the in-line filter you can remove the fuse for the fuel pump, start (or try to start) the engine to depressurize the fuel system before changing the filter.

It's a petrol. It's the in line filter directly under the passenger seat. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was glued together in some way. At some point they did some paint work under the car and the plug had one side painted black.
Leethal I couldn't find a specific fuse for the fuel pump. Would it come under a different name.
