Hi guys, first time poster here
recently bought a 2001 prado 90 5sp manual 3400 v6 petrol and love it! But have a few questions
1. It starts fine, runs smooth, has new plugs and leads but i feel as tho it lacks a bit of power down low? Like you really need to work it to make it move. Then, if i have my foot flat to the floor, when it gets around the 3500 to 4000rpm range it suddenly comes to life (almost like a button is pressed and vtec kicks in, thats the best way to describe it) so im not sure what is going on there..
2. It smells super super rich. Fuel economy is pretty crappy too. I think i read these don't have cats and o2 sensors??
3. While driving along say in 4th and i ease off the accelerator, then back on hard to change lanes i sometimes get a weird smack in the rear like diff slap. Everything seems okay and it is not every time. It is a very smooth car on the highway. No noises.
question 1 is my main query tho. As this thing really needs a bit more low down torque, offroad with hills is useless unless it is in low range.
thanks guys
