    Fuel filter warning light wont go off!

    Can anyone help me please.
    2002 TX turbo diesel Prado.
    Fuel filter warning light/alarm came on. Flushed the system (as per owners manual) until nothing but clean diesel coming out. Light and alarm still on!!! I have had this happen once before and was sure that the light went off automatically once I flushed the system.

    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    I assume you changed the fuel filter. Did you hook up the sensor wiring again afterwards? I think it is a standard always send a signal until the float rises and a magnetic read switch will disconnect and allow the light on. if not then is the sensor playing up?

      How long has the filter been in service, I think the light can come on for one of
      two reasons, water in the filter and when it is time to replace the filter due to kms
      travelled. I assume the engine ECU looks after the later. I would assume that once
      it has come on due to kms travelled the service centre will need to reset the ECU.

        I assume you have primed it after you put it back together, by pushing that little black knob in a few times on top of the unit to get the diesel back in it so it can trip that switch again.

          Did you actually have any water/dirt come out? if you did then I'd be changing the filter and adding an additive to the next few tanks to deal with any remaining moisture.

          As for the light, only one of three options, 1- You still have a heap of water, 2- the float is stuck (common fault) 3- the sender or circuit is faulty.

          It's simply a normally open switch activated/closed by a float. If you left it unplugged then the light wouldn't be on.

            Got it sorted out.
            Blocked outlet house not allowing for proper flushing.
