  • Hitch mounted winch

I use Domin8r Xtreme winch, 175 amps Anderson plugs, and 2 gauge wires from jumper cable

The 2 gauge wire is from 6 metres length jumper cable. I think I got 1m left after cutting etc.

I had to fabricate a U-shaped bracket to mount the winch control box.

The winch's control box mounting itself needs to be hammered flat so the door clears.

Now need to figure out how to install a hitch receiver at the front!

many years ago, these were available commercially. you connected to the battery via a long set of jumper leads.
to connect to the front, a bullbar with a hitch was required ( common with boaters) , or a sling to front recovery points.
They were marketed as being versatile as you can winch back , front or side. also can share with friends and is a "winch for life " as when you sell your car, you keep the winch.
I reckon its a great idea, why dont they sell them anymore

Do you reckon a steel bracket of adequate strength could be welded together and bolted to the chassis rail, with a hitch receiver poking out just enough through the front of the sovereign bar for the hitch mounted winch cradle to be attached. I’ve got a couple of friends who’re welding buffs and would give this mod a go. If it didn’t work out then they wouldn’t go through with it in the end. Mind you the bracket made up to hold the hitch mounted winch would weigh a bit to be heavy duty enough not to break or slightly bend. The benefit is you’re not permanently carrying that extra weight around on the front end, using extra fuel & wearing out your front end bushes & ball joints prematurely.
