Hi everyone,
When I was bored at home with Covid and at the time had no engine in my 95 Series Prado, I built a custom shroud and fan that fit snug underneath my stock toyota top mount intercooler. Now my new engine is installed, I've realised the bloody hump on the valve cover is determining the overall height of this setup to sit too high (about 10mm above top of bonnet height). I am not going to do a body lift for this one mod. So my question is; what purpose does this hump serve? I've got 2 x 1kz engines in the shed, one has the hump in the middle (1996 pre intercooled engine) and the other has the hump at the rear (2000 intercooled engine). Was this just an asthetics thing or does it actually serve a purpose? And if it's not necessary, where can I get a flat valve cover to suit?
Any suggestions welcome! Cheers
