This may helps someone. I just replaced my 18 year old struts with Bilsteins.
I have used method posted on this thread and I believe it is much safer than using flimsy spring compressors from repco or suprecheap.

I removed the tie rod end (using a puller) and sway bar link, so lower control arm can move further down. Also not 90 got 4 bolts for the ball joint and torque specks are 67 lb-ft.
Also instead using pry bar to push the control arm down, i used car jack with a wooden block.
Make sure you put marks on the sprint before removal so it goes back exactly where it was.
