Thanks Sam for organising the tour and to Jason for showing us how it's done. The tour gave me a great appreciation of the work that goes into producing these products, especially bull bars and lockers. Well done and thank you.

Thanks Sam, Jason and the young lady (whose name I didn't catch) for staying late to show us around. Personally I was amazed at the scale of the operation and the production of around 200 bull bars a day is staggering, especially as a lot of the leisure industry is quiet at the moment. Great to see so many people being employed

I did have a question about the pipe bender that was making the bullbar loops. Does the metal get heated before it is bent or does it get done cold?

Hi Fido

The pipe bender is a CNC mandral bender, no the pipe isn't heated. The same machines are used to bend exhaust pipe, the mandral stoppes the inside of the bend being crushed as a normal bender does. On a side note, Megafactories had a great show other night about the factory Harley make the Vrod in, they wanted the pipe work to be visable but weren't happy about the small dents the mandral bender put in the pipe, so they bend the pipe, then place it in a mould in a press then pump huge PSI of water into pipe, pushing all the little dents out, amazing to see!!!

I agree, thanks boys (and girl), great tour, fantastic to see all that great stuff being made and all the work involved at every stage!! Well done and well done to ARB for making such a great product locally.

I had to park the Kaka nose in so I wouldn't get kicked out for sporting a TJM bar. Sorry Sam, it was on the Prado when I bought it. Apparently it originally had an ARB bar, ex-owner said the dealer must have swapped it.



I can attest to the strength of the ARB product though as I had one on my 95 series, survived an accident with just a few scratches (can't say the same for the Barina I collected unfortunately). Here she is after I traded her in on the Kaka sporting a new paint job.

Thanks to all those who attended the tour and to Sam, Jason and the lovely lady (who's name escapes me also) for making it a great night. I personally enjoyed my time there but just couldn't work out how to get a lot of the items back on the plane as hand luggage.
