  • News reports from the GTG

Its still early in the piece at Riverwood Downs and the 2010 GTG is in full swing.

.... but already the hectic pace seems to have taken it out of at least one participant.

The Channel 7 News flash, just a few minutes ago, showed poor Damonat, in his flannelette jammis, curled up sound asleep, with the heater on, at 8.15 in the evening.

The party was still going on around him ... but poor Damo was pooped.

Sadly, the news crew, upon seeing unruly behaviour like this, assumed it must be a SOFT-ROADER weekend ... rather than an illustrious PP GTG.

They were soon convinced otherwise when organisers explained that Damo must have owned a Nissan in the past.

Its already made the news over here in the west.

Here's wishing all participants an awesome GTG.

    Cheers
    Chippy

Re: News reports from the GTG

We are all having too much fun to worry about computers, there is too much mud to be played in.

The last of the day trips are being run today but by all reports it has been one excellent GTG, it rained a bit in the Barringtons to make it all that much more fun and there were not too many on Stockton Beach either. Pradopoint has come to the aid of at least two poor unfortunates with Haysey and Big Fella winching one stuck 80 series today off the side of a dune. A big thumbs up to Hayesy and Yota for averting a disaster at the camp ground when a gas cylinder lamp went up and they reacted quickly to douse the flames and save the kids. Not members of our group but I am sure they are very happy that PP picked Riverwood for our camp ground.

The Stuck 80 Series, PP to the rescue.

          Traveling on Stockton Beach today.

Re: News reports from the GTG

              thanks for that chippy.
i didn't quite see that news story (for obvious reasons).
it has now wrapped up for another year, and what a top gathering it was.
the day trips were excellent with group 1 getting the Barringtons on day 3, with overnight rain and rain continuing during the trip,
it made for 1 awesome trip.
our tripleader (Yota in his 90 series) was conserned with the amount of rain on 1 particular track.
we had 3x90 series, 1x150 series and 4x120 series (1 of the 120 was absolutely stock as).
the challenge was set at the start of this day trip. to see which series would come out on top.
we arrived at the questionable track. all agreed "let's go. What are we waiting for."
down we go. got to the end. stopped for lunch at the end of the track.
time to leave. off goes the 150 (kitted), then the stock 120, then Yota/Glen 90 series (kitted). OOPS.
Glen loses traction and has to have reverse for another attempt. still can't get up the track.
              reverses again for another attempt.
OH NO. can't go back now as he has a tree 1mtr of his bumper and can't get traction forward. out comes the winch.
oh the pain he must still be feeling. leads 3 trips on the same tracks. tries giving the 90's a wrap and gets stuck himself.

most have now left the GTG and are heading home or onto other holiday trips.
so footage and pics will no doubt feed into these threads over the next days.

big thanks to the organisers for arranging a well planned event.

we drove back with Samo, and he still doesn't know who did this. we're guessing those QLDers.

was all good fun. hopefully every thing has been found and removed
we were going to do it on the first night, but decided it was best not to start it.

Well organised day trips and great company

The day trips were great and we really enjoyed getting out and meeting fellow PPers

Thanks to Mav for organising the GTG and all the day trip leaders for the effort they put into the event.

Re: News reports from the GTG

I heard rumblings from the NSWelshmen that possibly some of us QLDers took it upon ourselves to unleash the unexpected but funny/useless modifications to Samo and Glen's Prado's the last night of the GTG.

The funniest was when Samo told us about the toilet paper wrapped around their cars and the rain had made it nearly impossible to get it all off. There were remnants still all over his car that morning, not to mention the obligatory cable ties on the tail shaft. Not sure of all the mods done, but the list was pretty extensive as Samo tells it.

I can safely assure you NSWelshmen that it was not I who undertook the deed, but I think it safe to say that I laughed just as hard as anyone else who heard the story. Apparantly they are calling themselves the "Pradopoint Fairy" who unleashes mods onto Prados when ever they feel like it.

Who ever did it, PLEASE POST SOME PICS

I will be back in QLD on Friday so I intend to upload many pics of our 6 day/5 night trip to NSW as soon as I can on my return.

Thanks all for a very memorable GTG. Cant wait until 2011 GTG.

Re: News reports from the GTG

I think the Pradopoint Fairy is very considerate in at least notifying you that he has gifted you a few mods and goes to great lengths to ensure that his message is not damaged by the elements or blown away as the sandwich bag cable tied to the wiper shows :P
And I also believe that I may have had a couple of beers with him over the campfire last night but the fire was very smoky and I didn't get a good look at his face :?
I guess we'll have to wait until next year and hope that he puts in another appearance, just like the Easter Bunny 8)
