  • One happy Chap just bought 95 series

    Friends

a little help here? i have driven 1kz prado 95 for two years and swapped it for 2.7L petrol prado 95. having said that, i am not very familiar with gasoline engine of Prado. Not a good deal it might seem to you but having to try to start it up in cold mongolian winter (Day time temp is usually between -25 -35) it was a nightmare to have it towed in traffic with icy road if battery failed after few cranks.
So back to my question, Since Japanese used cars rarely come with manuals, even if they did, i wouldn't be understanding a bit from it (in japanese) so only reference i have with this vehilce is VIN Plate info. Can anybody interpret this to me? I assume this type of thread already exist but a little help here would be greately appreciated.
one of my concern is the lack of OPTIONAL LSD. that thing is better than having nothing and my diesel prado LSD worked like a charm...

it is late 1999 japanese domestic TX Limited
Engine: 3RZ-FE (didn't understand another engine numbering on THE engine "F3Rz-j20 141")
    Frame - RZJ95-0029729
Model - GF-RZJ95W-GKPSK-C (this should tell me if LSD is there or not? and possibly package options...)
Plant Built - A51 (i am assuming this factory is located in Japan)
Color - K73 (no problem here)
Trim: FU11 (what does this trim normally include as standard?)

        OK skywalker

I have visited the sites you have mentioned above. i am afraid i still have not got my aswer yet. i am still doubtful about whether or not i have the LSD for my Prado 95. I searched on this forum about what specific type of LSD did Toyota used for 95 series and how i could know if i had one etc...?
i am not sure if i need to bring another thread.

anybody here know what type of LSD did toyota use for 90 series? like is it a torsen type or a simple clutch springs? it never bothered me before but i am planning for a winter travel to Khuvsgul lake and Darkhad valley this year so a little contious about I have what i should have etc... thank guys for the help

On my 95 diesel there's a sticker or plate on the diff near the filler hole which says something about LSD.
The point of it is to make sure you use the correct oil when filling but if you have that label then you have a LSD.
No idea if that applies to the petrol models but you'd think it would.

Yep, my petrol 95 has the same LSD tag on the back of the diff too.

Welcome gantulga! We would love to see some pictures of your 4 wheel driving on your upcoming trip! Sounds like a harsh climate like much of Australia - albeit in the other extreme.

            Cheers, Ben.

              Hi everyone?

Checked the rear axle and did not find the mentioned tag. ruling out the possibility of LSD. We have sizable number of prados here in Mongolia so I am thinking if i could swap one with LSD? any compatability problems? it should be much cheaper upgrade provided that I won't be able to spend 1/3 of cost for a locker or a powerwinch...

I will definetly publish some pics

              1) did ALL-OUT lubrication
              2) changed brake pads
              3) few wirings here and there, didn't find major flaws so far apart from missfire and stutter on traffic light (changed the spark wires and all good)
              4) Can't seem to find MAF cleaner spray ( I wonder if i could use carburator cleaner for this matter?)
              5) steering belt makes a little squiky sound (first it sounded like an alternator belt) gotta pin down what it actually is
              6) thinking of dual battery wiring, but my limited electrical knowledge tells me not to mess up till i save enough cash to pay for the experts
