Hi, i live in the country on a gravel road and currently drive a territory turbo with 150,000kms on it, it uses around 14l /100kms of premium petrol at nz$2.20/litre, i want to get a prado to replace it, a diesel 150 prado uses around 10/ 100kms at nz$1.60, but in nz you have to buy road user charge of $48/1000kms for diesel cars, registration is also heading for $600/year for diesel and only $290 for the petrol territory, and services are further apart for petrol, everyone/most here still buy diesel prados over petrol as they hold there resale better. i worked out that to do 30,000km/year in the territory including 2 services and registration costs is about $10,130. To do 30000km in a prado with 3 services is $7,740. after reading alot on prado point it seems you would need to budget for extra fuel filters (secondary) and injector seals every 45000km and injectors every 100,000kms. Are there other things i should consider budgeting on with a prado? i also looked at a 100series, jeep laredo and ford ranger but prefer prado for size and daily use. has anyone got or had a territory and gone to a prado- what are your thoughts?
