  • Poor dealer service

I find there are moments where you really regret doing things. One of these was signing the contract for the purchase of my brand new VX (which I still haven't picked up yet - hopefully tomorrow!) from Rockingham Toyotaways.

So far I've found the service to be lacklustre at best. Got off to a rocky start when no one could get back to me for days and days with a question about window tinting and factory warranties. Nothing complicated but it seems my hard-earned $77k wasn't enough to entice someone to give me a call back even after I rang them twice.

Following a discussion with the manager on customer service, two months later I again find myself wondering why I bothered with this mob. The car is at the dealer, I've organised the finance and will have the cheque in my hand tomorrow morning. It would be nice if the dealer bothered to call and let me know when I could pick the car up or that it had been registered so I can get the insurance sorted. Or if you say you are going to do something, do it or at least follow it up. Once again, nothing complicated but frustrating as I have better things to do than sit around waiting for a phone call. I'm tired of chasing them.

I have bought several new cars before and have found Rockingham Toyotaways the most confusing and frustrating customer experience.

I am really looking forward to getting out there and amongst it as I have no doubt the Prado will be awesome. I just won't be dealing with these clowns in the future. I'll head down to Mandurah or in to the city.

    Cheers,

    Stephen

My local dealer is F***in useless, still waiting for them to get back to me with their best price on the last 2 Prados I have bought, everytime I deal with them there is always some issue.

Bought 2 new Prados from CMI in Adelaide, can't fault them, easy to deal with, no pressure, looked after me both times. Would probably give them first shot next time I buy new.

Defiantely shop around for a good dealer, they are out there, having said that our local dealer brags about how many times they win the best dealer award, so maybe some of the others are really crap

        Cheers Andrew

Yeah, unfortunately you can't tell these things until after you've signed on the bottom line. Still, tomorrow may bring me a new Prado and all in the world will be sweet again.

Does it matter where you go for the first service?

              No.
As I understand it, you can get the first (or any other service)
              done at any Toyota dealer.

I think you can actually get it serviced at any registered mechanic, as long as they follow the service manual... well you can here in WA. Friend of mine takes his to his local Ultra Tune. Reckons it's cheaper, never had any dramas with mechanics not tightening bolt/nuts,great customer service and no BS about getting things done they don't really need done.

I would go to a different Toyota dealer for the first service, as it is a free service, if you go elsewhere, you will have to pay, so it is a good chance to try a different dealer to see how good they are.

The first service at 1000k, which is really only a check, can be done at any dealer, it's free so definitely go to Toyota. Neither of mine had this service done at the dealer I bought them from. After that any mechanic can service it, I use Toyota when away from home but usually use my normal mechanic when services fall due at home.

If you are happy with Toyota then its great. My 120 had $250 capped services which is a bit more than the 150 which I think is $200. I had the 20 and 40 thou services done by Toyota whilst on our travels and just had the 60 thou done locally (and yes had hassles)

I got my normal mechanic to do the 10, 30 and 50 thou services and they worked out cheaper than the fixed price would have been, and my mechanic is great, everything is always spot on, no hassles ever; after over 10 years of him servicing our vehicles.

                        Cheers Andrew
