Greetings all. This is my first post on Pradopoint. This appears to be the appropriate place to discuss Prado prices. I am about to purchase a GX auto diesel. Has anyone purchased a Prado VERY recently and taken advantage of the Japanese free trade agreement price drop of $4000? If so, what did you pay? The previous benchmark for a GX seemed to be about $54,000 drive away with no extras. I'm hoping I can beat this now.

Mine was really bad when new and I did the guard matting which I described in the thread. But first step is checking the airbox isn't touching the guard,Toyota had a mod for this but should be fixed from the factory these days.

All they can do is change the tune of the intake, usually by baffling the inner guard to change the volume, thus the resonate freq. There is a thread on here about it in the older models bu placing sound matting in the guard, works a charm. Either that or put a snorkel on (if you plan to) and it will be gone anyway.

Otherwise, as the mechanics of the whole car bed in over a few thousand kms it will disappear as the resonate freq. changes slightly. Its not a wide spread problem.

Don't think so, as per my comment above the dealership confirmed it. The head mechanic I spoke to said Toyota are well aware of it and some are worse than others, guess I got the short straw. Apparently Melbourne have told him to check a couple of things when I take it in on the 9th and if it can't be remedied then the issue goes 'regional' whatever that means. Wait and see i suppose.

Mine does, brand new from the dealer. Drones at 1600rpm's. Took it back to the dealership who confirmed the 'drone' and submitted a Toyota dealer report back to Melbourne about it. On a scale of 1 to 10 the dealership said it was about a 7 with 10 being the worst. Anyway I have to take it back on the 9th.

I have late Nov 14 build auto, i have been trying to replicate a drone but cant get any noise that sounds abnormal. it is heaps quieter than my 2012 BT50.

I'm with you Ben, come from a old diesel, or anything made by Nissan, and these things are as quiet as a mouse. In fact, the Prado has less in cabin noise at 110Km with the D697s fitted than our old 2010 levin zr Corolla with Khumo KU31s. I have had no drone, no vibrations, nothing to complain about except an annoying rattle in the door which turned out to be a clip not all the way home.

    Hello,

I paid a deposit today for a white 2014 GXL Prado TD Auto with an expected delivery date of early January. Happy with the deal I received given I didn't/couldn't wait to the new year for further discounts/offers. $60k drive away with floor mats, window tint and full tanks. I didn't want anything else as I will be getting aftermarket accessories straight away.

It came up as a "today" post when I made the comment, today it shows as "yesterday". I thought a dealer open on Christmas Day was odd but with car sales numbers being down anything is possible :-)
