5 Link rear end in the Fortuner as opposed to the Leaf sprung rear end in the Hilux.

If it is based on the Hilux and uses the same running gear then it will have rear drums.

That's a Thai model. Wouldn't surprise me if it's different specs for different markets. Drums are cheaper to make so saving a bit of coin in markets with less focus on safety.
Wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer has done it

Is that reinforced front guards I spotted in the video? Paddle shifters?

    Hey,

Early model Fortuners had a history of rollovers in SA, spring rates in the rear were way too sloppy. Wonder if the newer model has this problem sorted?

Toyota Fortuner 2015/2016. Will it become a member of the Pradopoint family? Anyone considering it?

Been surfing the web and doing a bit of research on them.

The Mrs really likes the styling and I actually don't mind it. The lack of fuel tank capacity is disappointing however it does have a little extra ground clearance over the current Prado range. It has Toyota's proven 5 link rear end so will have that Hilux Truck ride and can fit 7 if you need to.

I'm guessing it's going to be marketed at the Colorado7/MUX buyers and admittedly we have looked at both. So if they are priced around the $50G mark then they might compete extremely well..

Anyhow, we have been chatting to our local dealer and they have 3x ordered from the first batch. GXL and up in spec. We will be taking a drive for certain and are seriously considering one as an upgrade for MUMSRIG. They will be on the showroom floor in October all going well.

    Here is some info:

Is anyone else considering one of these as a replacement for their Prado?

I actually don't mind it, the interior is a bit ugly though. I wish they had the 4Runner from the US here instead with Diesel.
