I ordered a Kakadu towards the end of January with an ETA of late April. I received an update from the dealer late May advising me that my vehicle was ‘matched’ for production in June with the estimated delivery date being late July.Last edited by Tow2go; 11-07-2021, 07:06 AM.

Very difficult, if not impossible to find all terrain 265/55R19 tyres in Australia which is what I believe will be fitted to the rims of the VX and Kakadu. Not a great prospect given I plan to use the vehicle for off-road outback travel.
When I became aware of the 19" wheel issue my reaction was precisely the same as yours, so I asked my dealer whether mine was affected. I was told no, as I ordered well before the change. I'd be surprised if yours came with 19", although if your build is delayed for an extended period I guess it couldn't be ruled out entirely. Were I to find myself in that position, I'd buy a set of 17" rims, since you'd want to change the tyres anyway for off-road outback travel.

Going by the email received from my dealer and the update on the Toyota order tracking website - “We will make every endeavour to deliver your brand new Prado as soon as possible after the launch date” (July 2021).
- it would seem my Prado will be delivered with 19” rims.Last edited by Tow2go; 11-07-2021, 07:11 AM.

Unfortunately, as I didn’t anticipate anything like the additional 3 month extension on the ETA, or a specification update prior to delivery, I bought an ‘as new’ 18” matching Kakadu alloy rim and new tyre 3 weeks after placing my order (to use as a 2nd spare on remote trips).

I don’t expect to be the only disappointed person if the current advice on the VX and Kakadu update is correct and Toyota don’t offer future buyers the option of 18” rims.
But I take that last email at its word - i.e. that they've started - and thus it's not the 19" variant. I would not be a happy camper either in your position, esp having already bought an 18" spare. And being queue-jumped by someone who ordered a month or two later.
I ended up getting a separate set of wheels and tyres with my current vehicle, to both get rid of the RFT and to get less low-profile tyres. Storing a extra set of wheels and tyres is a right pain, and I didn't want to have to do it again, in addition to the cost. But it's not the end of the world, and I've already factored in the cost of a new set of tyres for outback use, so some wheels as well doesn't seem so bad. Would mean I could match them to the caravan.

Can anyone who has received a new Prado (or any other Toyota) in recent times give me an estimate of how long it took between receiving the notification that it had shipped and when it was ready at the dealer? I thought four weeks seemed likely, which would mean that my Kakadu couldn't possibly be ready in 15 days as per the estimate.
Yes, I know it will be here when it will be here, but I'm trying to finesse the sale of the vehicle it's replacing, as having an extra vehicle onsite wouldn't be convenient, and I thought the four weeks to go point would be a good time to start the sale process.
