Rims, Toyota connect services, some more safety features (couldn't specify) and minor cosmetic changes are the differences in the mid year update according to the dealers that I spoke to. It took a few calls to different places who all seemed to have different information. No one has the full spec sheet yet, it will be released by the end of the month, that's when we will know all of the changes.

Is that pushed out because of the changes you want? When did you order yours?

Hi mate yeh just wanted to add leather, ordered in early May, seems you can’t do anything without delaying your order,

We found a VX in a colour we wanted at a dealer in Sydney after calling no less than 36 dealers across NSW, paid via Osko that afternoon and picked it up the next day...There's plenty of GXL's about, and a Graphite Kakadu in Newcastle available!

So the dealer rang today, they had just unloaded the car from the truck, awaiting factory towbar to be fitted along with the bullbar, we should take the keys next weekend with any luck

Ordered a Graphite GXL with towbar at the end of March. No confirmation of build yet. Dealer says maybe July/August.

Where is everyone seeing their status? Is this through the Toyota app?

I ordered a Kakadu towards the end of January with an ETA of late April. I received an update from the dealer late May advising me that my vehicle was ‘matched’ for production in June with the estimated delivery date being late July.

ordered my VX in Feb/March and received the car 2 weeks ago. Only travelled 1,500km so far, and very impressed.

Very difficult, if not impossible to find all terrain 265/55R19 tyres in Australia which is what I believe will be fitted to the rims of the VX and Kakadu. Not a great prospect given I plan to use the vehicle for off-road outback travel.
I ordered my Kakadu well after you, and by the sounds of things I'll receive it before you, which seems unfair. The build order is something of a mystery. I'm getting the impression that they build in batches, and not just models. I suspect that there are batches for dealers. I ordered through a country dealer who apparently sells a lot of them. I think there's fair bit of luck with both timing and dealer choice.

When I became aware of the 19" wheel issue my reaction was precisely the same as yours, so I asked my dealer whether mine was affected. I was told no, as I ordered well before the change. I'd be surprised if yours came with 19", although if your build is delayed for an extended period I guess it couldn't be ruled out entirely. Were I to find myself in that position, I'd buy a set of 17" rims, since you'd want to change the tyres anyway for off-road outback travel.

Going by the email received from my dealer and the update on the Toyota order tracking website - “We will make every endeavour to deliver your brand new Prado as soon as possible after the launch date” (July 2021).
                        - it would seem my Prado will be delivered with 19” rims.

Unfortunately, as I didn’t anticipate anything like the additional 3 month extension on the ETA, or a specification update prior to delivery, I bought an ‘as new’ 18” matching Kakadu alloy rim and new tyre 3 weeks after placing my order (to use as a 2nd spare on remote trips).

I don’t expect to be the only disappointed person if the current advice on the VX and Kakadu update is correct and Toyota don’t offer future buyers the option of 18” rims.
That's really odd. I ordered mine in early March, and a few weeks later the dealer gave me an estimate of 5 July. The last Toyota update email I received was four weeks ago (I wasn't given a tracking website login) saying that they had just started the build. You'd think that that would only take a week or two, but I still don't have the next email which presumably says that it's just set sail, which suggests to me that it being here and ready in 16 days is pretty unlikely.

But I take that last email at its word - i.e. that they've started - and thus it's not the 19" variant. I would not be a happy camper either in your position, esp having already bought an 18" spare. And being queue-jumped by someone who ordered a month or two later.

I ended up getting a separate set of wheels and tyres with my current vehicle, to both get rid of the RFT and to get less low-profile tyres. Storing a extra set of wheels and tyres is a right pain, and I didn't want to have to do it again, in addition to the cost. But it's not the end of the world, and I've already factored in the cost of a new set of tyres for outback use, so some wheels as well doesn't seem so bad. Would mean I could match them to the caravan.

Can anyone who has received a new Prado (or any other Toyota) in recent times give me an estimate of how long it took between receiving the notification that it had shipped and when it was ready at the dealer? I thought four weeks seemed likely, which would mean that my Kakadu couldn't possibly be ready in 15 days as per the estimate.

Yes, I know it will be here when it will be here, but I'm trying to finesse the sale of the vehicle it's replacing, as having an extra vehicle onsite wouldn't be convenient, and I thought the four weeks to go point would be a good time to start the sale process.

It was three weeks for me. From hitting production to turning up at the dealer. I had no further progress steps, according to the tracking i missed 2 steps but its here ready for pickup at the end of the week
