Finally some progress on our GX. Ordered in July and due to be delivered next week. Might take the cake for the longest wait yet

30/7/21 - Order placed
4/8/21 - Confirmation email saying it's officially been ordered
15/10/21 - Link to order tracking system provided on request
During this period the tracking system generally showed 'planned for production' for the next month but kept moving back a month until we moved to 'scheduled for production'
29/3/22 - Scheduled for production in April
14/4/22 - In production
15/4/22 - VIN and engine number added to tracking system
Late April - Being shipped
4/5/22 - Arrived in port, being prepared for transport to the dealer
13/5 - In transit to dealership, arrived at dealership. Being prepared for pickup
18/5 - Pre-purchase inspection completed, delivery arranged for 24/5/22

It was initially 4-5 months (so around December 2021) but that went out the window pretty quickly

Hi everyone, new guy here

I ordered a GXL prado w/ premium interior back in early December 2021. It's been nearly 6 months and the tracking still shows it's "on order" with planned production month still to be confirmed. Is anyone also experiencing this? Also, every time I call my dealership they tell me the same thing, that its out of their control and all I can do is wait. Is there anything I should be doing? I ordered a GXL prado w/ premium interior back in early December 2021.

What colour?
My order is the same as yours in plain white and got placed Feb 22, it will turn up in 2 weeks, so 4 months turnaround.

The 4 criteria that determine build time is dealer, model, options and most importantly, colour. The build quantity and allocation qty to a dealer of each combination is determined many, many months in advance. Just because you place an order doesn't alter what was going to be built anyway. My BIL has an order in for Dusty bronze from Jan22 and there's no build date for it yet.

Having said all that, feel free to hassle your dealer and make them earn their money and swap a vehicle with some other dealer.

Apparently there is an issue with the premium interior…. Toyota Japan put it under restriction because of the lockdown in china. So all the prado with leather are on hold! I’m starting to regret

The colour is peacock black. I feel like I made a rookie mistake here by buying such a niche colour and this is probably why my wait time is long. In saying that, does colour make that much of a difference in the wait time? Thanks

I’m still waiting yes and I had a long conversation with Toyota Brighton who gave me this info. Apparently Toyota will start to built the car in July but nothing sure…

in terms of the color I haven’t heard any restriction or delay

I placed an order for a Prado VX (Dusty Bronze) standard tailgate on early Jan 2022 and still waiting on a confirmed production date. However, one of my friends ordered Prado VX (Graphite) with flat tail gate in mid Feb 2022 from the same dealer and his production is completed and he was told a delivery date of mid July. I queried this from my dealer and he mentioned that Prado VX orders with flat tail gates are put into production early because of their low demand compared to the standard tail gate orders which has an extended wait time due to their higher demand.

I ordered a Crystal Pearl standard tailgate VX mid of Feb. Mine is still waiting. Please update us when you move to production.
