  • Bonnet struts

I was quoted by a Toyota dealer (Grand Motors Southport, QLD) around $500 to replace the two bonnet struts on my 120 series a while back. I thought "how on earth could it be that much" so I checked on eBay. $24.95 and half an hour of your time - done.

Did you ask them to re-quote without the 24 carat gold plating included. I bought mine off eBay too when I bought my car. Nice & cheap & they work fine. If they fail again in 5 years time I’ll just buy another pair.

Why is there such a huge price difference? Is this considered a scam? I also own an old toyota. Lucky to know this information. we become what we behold

Why is the price difference so significant? Is this a fraud, in your opinion? I also have a vintage Toyota.

Why a pair of OEM struts from Toyota cost $275 is hard to understand (and another $250 to fit them!?). It's not like they lasted the lifetime of the vehicle either, albeit they did last 14 years. It's ruthless overcharging, that's what it is.

Same here in SA - Toyota quote roughly 400 Australian Dollars
Replacements I got myself - 40 Australian Dollars
                Daylight robbery.

My replacement EBay bonnet struts were $26 delivered to me in 2018. Still working like the day I fitted them.
