Yeah, Foran and Jennings should help you along a bit, it would be nice to see them have a decent year after the last few

    • Hi

swapped my Triton for a 2015 Prado GXL 2.8TD in December.

Well not really swapped, number 2 son apparently purchased the Triton and I got a sparkly new Prado.

      So far I have installed:
      - Opposite Lock bull bar
      - Intervolt DCC Pro battery management
      - Repco 100Ah deep cycle battery
      - ARB onboard compressor

      Still to install:
      - 80 channel UHF (to be removed from said Triton)
      - 4WD1 9" LED lights

      Still to purchase
      - Snorkel
      - looking at suspension lift and airbags in the back
      - will put larger tyres on when I have destroyed the original set
      - Rhino roof bars and awning

      I'm in Secret Harbour, WA.

      • G'day all, recently picked up a 2012 GX Prado, very impressed to say the least!
Previously had a 2007 Triton and before that a '99 100 Series Landcruiser. Been out of the off-road game for a few years so it's great to get back into a real vehicle again!

Based in the Perth CBD so it's a great excuse to get away from the city!

Pretty happy with this as she's come fitted with:
        RedArc dual Batt.
        Safari Snorkle
        Kamar dual rear wheel carrier
and Gen. Toyota alloy bull bar - which will probably get replaced in the near future.

Certainly looking at a small lift and been checking out the Pioneer Tradie Rhino Rack and awning. Also looking at some lighting upgrades and comms.

Looking forward in getting out, doing some touring again and enjoying the great outdoors.

I've got plenty of ridiculous questions to ask later on so be patient with me!

        Cheers

                • Hi guys and girls.

I've started posting recently after a long time lurking. Thought I should introduce myself too.

I have owned my Prado for 5 months. Coming from an R51 Pathfinder then an NW Pajero, I can say with certainty that the Prado is a the best 4x4 that Iv'e owned, and by a large margin. What's that saying about buy cheap buy twice?

My Prado was supposedly the first 2.8 Diesel that Nunawading Toyota sold. I ordered my Prado without even knowing a new version was on the way. Even the salesman was surprised when a week after ordering the car, he was told that I would be getting the new engine and gearbox. I was concerned at first about an unknown motor, but so far it has exceeded my expectations.

I've listed my mods so far in my sig. Will be adding the Wind Cheeta rack tonight and then its rear drawers, awning, rear locker, bash plates, etc, etc, etc...

Cant wait to get it to the other side of the Country when I can get some bloody time off from work!

                  Cheers,

                  Mike.

                      1994 Land Cruiser Prado 3L
Just purchased one month ago and had to have a new cylinder head fitted
It is bog standard just fitted a tow bar, boost and temperature guage and also some KC spotlights.
Have a winch and recovery kit
will mainly be used for towing the boat to be able to launch off the beach, hopefully some off road at some stage
the boat is only about 800 kilos all up so she won't have to work too hard

                        • Hi All,

First post on here so figure I'd start with an intro. Long time Hilux owner and a member of NewHilux.net which I found a massive help with mods and opinions on products. The wife has our first child on the way so we're joining the Prado club to give her a nicer everyday car and something comfortale and capable when we do get away for some road trips.

Heading up to Perth this morning to pick up our purchase from Westside Auto in Welshpool (also bought the hilux from them). They had a lot of ex miners and rental fleet vehicles but we found one that was registered to the Australian Customs with full logbook history serviced at melville Toyota and from the looks of things its only ever seen bitumen, assuming that its never towed given that it has no towbar and bog standard in every other respect which means I can put what I want on it.

                          Model: GX 150 Series
                          Year:2011
                          Colour: White
                          Paid: $37000
                          km:72000

Only accessory is a cargo barrier. Otherwise she's bog stock standard.

Barwork is the first priority and to fit the dual battery for the engel.

Looking forward to reading up on everyones buildups and opinions on products.

                            • hello skips,
There arn't too many GX Prados on teh forum, so welcome, because if you don't need the back row seats, or dual zone climate control AC and a few other bits, the GX is a great option I recon...please keep posting info of any modifications you get/make.
We had a 2010 GXL Prado, and loved it...a couple of suggestions..if you put a dual battery system in it, I personally would avoid putting it under the bonnet if you plan doing off road trips, as we cracked the inner guard. We did a 40mm dobinson suspension lift, and it made a great difference...your original shocks will be getting soft now, and if you go off road and tow or load the car up, a 40mm suspension lift will make a huge difference, better handling, better clearance...but you could benefit from some aftermarket side steps (sliders)..the GX models didn't come with side steps, and if you lift the car, especially for passengers, side steps makes it easier to get in and out...and also protects the sills. Anyway...you should have a great car.
