  • LED Head Lights - Which one to get?

    Guys....

My old LED Headlamp has failed and I'm in the market for a new one.... Wanting one that puts out a excellent light but also has settings that dull the light output. Also having the option for a RED LED to keep the bugs away would also be good....

What are some of the good ones to look at getting and where can u buy them?

    cheers...
    Rob

It's illegal to have red light facing forward.

I think Rob is refering to a head light that you wear on your head, not for the front on a car.

How were we supposed to know that.

Got the Dingo headlamp from Wolfeyes - beats all the rest for light out put. 3 light settings plus strobe. Doesn't have red though.

Come to think of it, we haven't used the term head lamp for a car since the 40's.

I use a Led Lenser H14, it seems to be pretty good. I use it when I go shooting and for when I'm riding the Quad bike at night, It's like having high beam on your head. you can pick them up on ebay for about $80-$90.

I have a WolfEyes Dingo Rob. Great piece of Kit proved itself invaluable our cape trip. Battery lasts for ages. ~$99.
Battery's are interchangeable with their other torches as well.

                  Fenix headlamps, hp series

I fish reefs at nighttime, rock hoping and these are great reliable lights, very powerful white light, not yellow, and i can clearly see pot holes and the like when getting back to Terra australis, can see 50 mtrs plus easy

I have an older version of this model HP15UE and it takes 4 AA batteries, ive got eneloop's in there and its a great package

Stupid idea to have any torch or headlamp with an uneven number of batteries other than to save weight, jmt

Looking for something that I can use around camp so reaching 100+mtrs in distance is not a big factor but it still needs to light up the campsite. Need something that has settings that can change from full brightness down to a duller light where u aren't burning your fellow campers eyes out. Having the Red light to keep the bugs away is a bonus too.
having the ability to change from spot to flood beam would be good to....

I've got the HL30 from Fenix, has four light settings, including burst (SOS?) and red light and runs off two 1.5v batteries. You used to be able to by them from Bunnings but I haven't seen them for a while. So far its been a little ripper.

I can think of no better LED flashlight than Zebralight, and I own many.

The H600w MKII or H602w are both 1 x 18650 lights and are as good as a headlamp gets, in my opinion Spendy though..
