Old skool, old fart here .... so I use a quality wax. I have found the Autoglym range to be easy to use and seems to last well.
I especially like the "Super resin polish" as it doesn't leave as much residue on non painted components and is relatively easy to apply and polish off. Follow up with a good waxing and it last well.
yes I know waxing can be painful but no pain no gain
