Just thought I would start a thread for those that like to talk about the Dakar rally.

With the race now up to day 2 there has already been quite a bit of action with some big crashes taking out some of the top runners.

So here is the thread to post anything Dakar 2018.

With close to a 1000bhp the trucks sure do get up and go. They are speed limited to 160km/h so they can't overtake the cars.

        Looks like the Toyota's are starting to make a fight back with a 1st, 6th, & 7th.

Not a good day yesterday for the Hilux's with the top Toyota coming in at 7th place. The dunes sure are causing issues.

With the Hilux's sitting overall in 4th, 5th & 8th there is at least a glimmer of hope of trying to get to a podium position now that the main dune sections are completed.

At least it still looks like a Hilux to some degree. The Peugeot looks nothing like its namesake. Even the Mini is something like 200mm wider than standard but is does at least look like a Mini.

                      Hey all,

Nope not much Hilux left in there....it's a mini Trophy Truck. Part of Toyotas cunning plan to make us believe there's a real Hilux competing. Either way, if they sold a Gazoo I'd buy one if I had the coin!!

The last OEM ute to do a genuine off road course was the Raptor in the Baja1000. That was a genuine oem vehicle...broke several leaf springs and shackle mounts, but it completed the course!

The T2 class is for more OEM vehicles and it has been won by the 200 series Landcruiser for the last couple of years.
