  • BCF XTM drawer system any good?

Noticed BCF has their modular XTM system on sale for $300 now and wondering any one has experience with it compared to other drawers like titan etc?

      Hi Bathuu,

I dropped in at BCF the other afternoon as I was also interested in the XTM drawer. I had a little tinny play around with all the components and came to the conclusion that that I will not purchase this product.

Accessory wise it has many great features which initially caught my attention. Unfortunately upon closer inspection the quality of the drawer slides and the cheap feel of the polycarbonate/Perspex cutting board whiz Jos really flimsy, left me feeling a little underwhelmed with the unit.

The main draw and latch seems to work well and at $300 on sale it would be something worth considering but for the meantime I personally am going to stick with my homemade drawers system.

      Cheers

Anyone ever get these and fit into a 150 GX? I have just picked one up and had a scout around the back of the wagon and there seems to only be attachment points where the cargo barrier secures and for the two ties points in the bottom corners. Is it possible to install a single drawer in a 150 GX without building a false floor / putting a piece of 15mm marine ply down using the above four mentioned points and then securing the draw to that?

          Edit:
I doubt anyone will see this, but I just wanted to mention that I ended up grabbing two of these (one with fridge slide, one with solid top). They do fit well in the prado 150 gx with some modifications. I installed these side by side, connecting them to each other by removing four of the bolts used for bearings and replacing them with 50mm stainless ones to pass through both bearings and the inside of both drawers. I used 4 nylon spacers to pack them out to provide required clearance for other bolts I didn't replace. You could got o a bit more effort and replace all bots with various amounts of spacers to make them sit perfectly next to each other, but I am happy with the 5mm gap at the top for now.

I had to move my factory cargo barrier back about 5 inches by reshaping the provided brackets that used to run on the floor of the cargo area. It all fits quite perfectly. The holes for the old cargo barriers lines up with the bottom bars on the drawers allowing them to be fastened very securely up the rear of the cargo area (front of the car). They are secured with two turn buckles to the existing cargo points up the front of the cargo (rear of the car).

I will look at making some wings but for now they work fine, we are going camping this weekend so they'll get a good test then.

I think for the club membership price they are good value, but I am sure you can make something better if you're handier than I am...

          Cheers

            Hi Toby,

How have the drawers held up? I'm considering doing the same and wondering if you have any feedback since you installed them.
            cheers,
            JM

Just curious did you take any photos of the installation points?
I’m looking at doing the same thing.
