I don’t think you would ever get pulled up on it and the information is hard to find
I think Victoria has a 25mm rule and nsw 15mm of rolling diameter
If you do the calculations it’s over 15mm for the 265/70 combo

Most, if not all, states have adopted the up to 50mm diameter increase of ANCAP. That includes the eastern states. So 265/70 is legal as far as I know. Probably should check since I have been wrong (frequently) before.

edit: NSW allows +/_ 7% 265/70 is 3.6% bigger, 804mm vs 776mm. So perfectly legal.

amts can you update the info in the https://www.pradopoint.com.au/forum/...ft-regulations thread?

I was in the same situation in regards to tyres and ended up going with the Hankook Dymapros. Quiet on the road yet still have enough meat on them if I go off road. Have done nearly 40k on them and there is plenty of tread left. I had the Bridgestone duellers previously but found that when the started to get down they got extremely noisy.

All correct, in fact the new NSW tyre regs are here:
          https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents...eels-tyres.pdf

Interestingly, this calculator tells me that a 285/70 is only 7% bigger than a 265/65 :
          https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...5r17-285-70r17

So obviously, anything smaller is going to be perfectly legal.

            3. BFG KO2
            4. Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus
I don't think you'd be disappointed with any of those tyres listed and sticking to the list, I would recommend the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus.

I have used BFG, Cooper, Mickey Thompson, Yokohama, Dunlop and Pirelli in the past and have found the American brands to be great 4WD tyres, but a little overpriced.

The BFG KO2 is arguably the better looking tyre, but will it outperform the Pirelli? Is it worth the extra for the BFG if the Pirelli is actually better on road?

FWIW, I run the Pirelli Scorpion MTR on my V6 Prado and compared to the BFG KM3 on a 100 series Landcruiser on a recent trip, there was no difference in off road performance and the BFG owner complained that his tyres showed more signs of wear than mine. These mud terrains may not be directly relevant to your tyre choice, but the BFGs cost him almost $100 more PER TYRE than my Pirellis...

Thanks for the feedback everyone, due to cost and general good reviews I’ve plunged for the Dueler 697 in LT. I’m still not quite sure this is the best option but I have to choose something so this is what I’m going for. $100 off for a set of 4 at Bridgestone is a nice offer too making them cheaper direct than Tyresales etc
