Hello everyone,
It's my first post here so hello everyone. I need your advice here for a bit, hoping someone finds the time to read this mess. So my father wants to get a new car and I've now got the opportunity to get his Land Cruiser for free. It's a 2005 120 (Prado) with a 3.0L diesel, 5-speed auto, sitting on 190.000km currently (that's about 120k miles I reckon). It's fully loaded, diff lock, air ride, leather and the likes. It would replace my current vehicle, a Corolla hatchback from the same year. I'm not having major problems with it yet but age issues are starting to appear (had brakes fail a few months ago, high pressure pump seems to be on the way out, EGR looks a bit clogged, etc.) and it really feels like the older car between the two, despite having only 75k miles.
I can handle the maintenance costs and the jump in fuel consumption. But I want to know how many more years I could get out of it. I won't be doing much off-roading other than the odd trip to the mountains but the roads here are notoriously bad. It will however get a lot of snow action. Now I know that Land Cruisers are legendarily reliable, but what about the Prado version? From what I've read they're mechanically related to the 4Runner so how does that fall into the equation? I'm from Europe so there are no 4Runners here, only Hiluxes.
Thank you very much.
