    I have a 2018 VX and I've only experienced one DPF regen so far. It seems like Toyota might have figured it out, but only time will tell. I'm just hoping they do right by the people who have been affected so far. Speaking of DPF cleaning, have you heard of www.30minutedpfclean.com? I used it for my engine and it worked wonders. I'm thinking of using it again soon, especially with the piezo injectors in the 2.8L engine. It should make it even more reliable and extend its service life.

    I think cleaning your DPF filter once a year will make your engine work better and will increase its lifespan.

    Thanks for your input, I am in the UK at present and have tried to find if there have been any DPF issues here but to no avail. A Prado is not particularly common here so that may be a reason but I have asked friends in the garage trade and they don't know of issues. I only knew one person with a 2.8 but he sold it before I had a chance to ask him if I could connect techstream to it!
    I know that I may be sad but as I have a Chinese head unit I often have torque pro running and monitor various things so I am aware of what is going on. I have done this since the issue first got publicity and have to say that all the ECU mods and upgrades have only appeared to be very small changes despite all the hype.
    I agree that the regeneration should not really be noticeable especially during normal driving, my manual version however is very noticeable if stationary as the idle speed is increased to 1200 rpm, this can be annoying if I am trying to back a trailer into the garage at night without waking the neighbour's children.

    I have a slightly different view on the diesel DPF issue, yes very obviously Toyota has had an issue with getting their DPFs to function correctly in Australia. I say in Aust because we are aware here of the issues, however in discussions with friends and work colleagues in Europe it does not appear to be an issue there. My thoughts are Toyota have struggled with the diesel fuel grade/quality and operational requirements here in Australia. I work for a diesel engine manufacturer (not vehicle just engines) and as such I am aware of how complicated it is to remedy an engine issue. I agree Toyota has dropped the ball regards communication with owners with faulty DPF's but the process to change software or hardware on an emission compliant engine is not simply a case of deciding to change some parameters or settings or swap the injector size/type etc. Once they change something affecting emissions then it needs to be retested and I am aware of tests that require the engines to be tested (run under load) for 3000 hours or more in order to be approved so any permanent fix was never going to happen quickly. It would appear that Toyota may have it sorted now but time will tell.

    I have a Oct 2018 build VX and have to date only been aware one DPF regen occurring, that is not to say is has not been happening just that it is not obvious through smell/heat or visible smoke.
    My experience leads me to think they might have it figured out now, lets hope Toyota do the right thing by those affected by the issues to date.
    If it is sorted and with piezo injectors in the 2.8L I would expect longer service life and better reliability.

    In Europe the 1GD has DPF+SCR (adblue). But as long as I know there are no major issues with the DPF here... May bé different software configuration or better quality of diésel...

    The switch does nothing unless the dpf is about 180% full.

    Am very interested to see what happens I’ve had no issues with mine “14,000km touch wood but would like to know what will happen if it does play up.. we had a Hilux that went back about 6 times to get it fixed and it still having issues
