Might also be a SCV issue compounding the problem, your fuel pressure on both shots is a fair way off target pressure. Check again at operating temp and when driving.

    Hi Mate

How did you go with this issue?

From your readouts above, I would expect the black smoke to disappear when you disconnect the MAF as the ECU would read this as not having to inject as much fuel. However I am surprised that you didn't throw a fault code??

What is your MAF readings when the engine is warmed up past 80deg?

I am also seeing some black smoke all of a sudden across the rev range even a haze at light throttle and puffs even at gentle acceleration with billows with heavy acceleration.

    Vehicle is GX 150 2013 3.0 1KDFTV with 160k.

My injectors are only ~20k old from being replaced and feedbacks are all good.

Interestingly I have noticed my MAF readings are higher than expected, at around 15 to 18 g/sec at idle and I also noticed that the MAP readings don't add up with ambient pressure at 101kpa, the bar pressure sensor is reading 100kpa and the MAP sensor is reading 80kpa even with the engine off and ignition on.

Also a funny one I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, when starting the vehicle cold and for the next few ~3mins the MAF readings were around 8-9 g/sec(coolent temp ~55 deg) then there was an audible change to the idle sound and the MAF readings went to 18 g/sec and remained there at idle.

    Cheers

  • Techstream Injector values with and with out MAF sensor

    Hello All,
I have heavy black smoke issues with the 2009 120 d4d prado.(Took the car to 7 mechanics and including two toyo dealers and all say its fine)
But when I disconnected the MAF sensor, smoke gone.
These are the two tech stream readings first one with MAF sensor and second one with out MAF sensor.
    Can some one help me.
    Thanks in advance
