  • New GXL/VX, what did you pay?!

Hey guys, just sold my car and looking to grab a Prado in the near future. I know there will be a wait but wondering what price you guys have been able to get the dealers down to recently on a new GXL or VX??
I am still undecided but will either go for a GXL with premium interior or a VX, anyone recently had to make this decision?? Not sure if the VX is worth the extra considering I’ll be changing out rims straight up...
    Any advice appreciated!

I recently placed an order for the VX with the new 150kw motor. Got it for 68k but that was with a fleet buying discount. A friend purchased on back in June when they were very keen to move them with the old motor for 69k VX as well. They are waiting for new stock at the moment so deals might not be as easy to come across but I know they will easily move them for $75k.

Mainly went the VX for the refrigerated centre console and the front parking sensors plus 360 cameras. Toyota system isn’t the best but that’s how I sold the VX for myself. I cross shopped against the new defender which is a nicer car all round but couldn’t get one for under $97k with the diesel in S trim and now you have to wait till feb next year for anymore diesel stock unless your lucky or grab a demonstrator.

I ordered a new model GXL with premium interior, tow bar and upgraded tyres for just under 71k. Seems like i don’t negotiate as well as Pudley!
I went for the GXL as I wanted A/T tyres and the ones I wanted only come in 17”.
Btw, latest is that I might get it end of September, so they are moving them faster than expected.

Yeah nice thanks guys, DDK I got an email yesterday saying mine is due in 6 weeks ‍♂️ Hopefully it comes sooner!
Yeah updated ones will sell well so like Pudley said they won’t discount too much I found.

68k on road for the updated VX is a very good price.

Edit: I think your price is EX GST most likely you have a novated lease through your company and the GST is excluded.
68k for the updated model just doesn’t compute with low supply, high demand and an improved power train. Any sales person would be crazy doing a deal that low under the current circumstances.

68k for a new VX is a real bargain.. I have put in an order for a GXL silver with no extras for $63,900 a month ago and have received an email yesterday with an upgraded contract indicating a 2k price rise. Apparently the car will be ready next week for pickup.

Got the new Prado yesterday.. There is a noticeable difference in the way the engine and the tranny respond compared to the 2020 pre-Aug manufactured version.. I like it very much.

                Hi rotoman,

Congratulations on your purchase and hope you are enjoying your the new Prado.

Question- What is the model no of upgraded one? Does it say anything on your paperwork to say it's upgraded one?

Or is it just that Aug onward builds are automatically deemed to be upgraded?

I’m not Rotoman, but I got my new Prado this week too; I don’t see any specific model indications on the paperwork, I think it is just driven by the production date. There is a specific manual for the DPF, and in there it has separate chapters for Prados built before and after August 2020, so that’s another indication that it is purely based on production date.

Thanks for that mate, what is the build date on yours?
i have booked mine as well which have actually arrived in Australia but I am skeptical to know how do they identify. Hope you are enjoying your purchase.

                    Any tips on getting delivery?

Not sure what the build date is, I’ll have to see if I can find it in the paperwork somewhere.
I bought the car a couple of weeks ago (in August) and was told I’d have to wait until late October before delivery (I specifically asked for the new model when I was buying). Then I got a call recently that as they are completely out of Prado’s they had decided to start distributing the new model early, hence me getting it this week instead of a month later. I’d think you can be pretty certain that you’ll get a new model.
I also noticed today that they have updated the website to reflect the new specs.
No real tips on delivery, although calling your sales person wouldn’t hurt...

The salesman is 100% certain that's it's the new one otherwise it would be fraud he said as I specifically asked for new model as well. Mine arrived in Australia on 22nd but I have holded delivery until 16th. What color did you go with and which model?

Exciting! The 16th is not that far away.
I went with the GXL in Peacock Black. I went for the GXL first of all for the price, but also because I wanted A/T tyres and needed 17” wheels for that.
I upgraded from a 2014 GXL in Midnight Blue, so very very similar to my old car. Treated myself to the leather this time around.

Thanks Sumy. I am absolutely loving it.

The model number is still GDJ150R. Nope no where in the paperwork it is mentioned as an upgraded model. As DDK mentioned in his post it is the DPF information booklet where it is mentioned "Prado - August 2020 Production onwards".

Thanks mate, enjoy your new ride. I will make sure to double check the paperwork. The car is already here, so hopefully would take delivery soon.

Question- can you fit an awning on OEM rails without putting a roof rack?
