  • Toyota hilux 1kz engine temperatures

Hi all, this is my first time on this site, or any forum for that matter. I was hoping to talk a bit about engine temperatures as I think my head might be getting a bit hot. It's been a bit of a journey and I've done several things such as Replace the thermostat, flush the coolant, replace water pump, swap radiator with a friend's, install a second hand viscous fan, mine spun quite freely, so I refilled it but it had quite an obvious leak. Nothing has really seamed to help. My factory guage was getting to around 3/4 on big hills or when sitting at 100 on a hot day. I would always pull over and let the water cool down while idling, I've never hurt it boil and it doesn't go through water. I have now installed a couple of aftermarket guages, one bolted directly to the head and another in the top radiator hose.
my temperatures seam to be fine when bellow speeds of 80km/h or during low load scenarios. During low load my head usually sits between 76°-80° and my water temp is about 76°. However when I sit at speeds of 100km/h on a warm day my head can get to 90° and water around 80°. The water doesn't seem to bad, and the highest I've seen it reach is 85°, however the head temperature is a little concerning to me and I've seen it get to 95° on big hill. Any input would be seriously appreciated, if this is normal then awesome, otherwise some input on potential causes would be great. Thanks
