Buzzing/squeaking sound in dash behind steering colomn

We have a 2002 Toyota prado, that’s been making a weird, intermittent buzzing/squeaking sound from behind the steering wheel in the dash area. It happens mostly when the car hasn’t been used in a while, or perhaps is related to when the brakes haven’t been used in a while. It seems to happen during or very soon after braking, or it is just related to the car slowing down. If the car has been driven for a while, the sound gradually gets less loud when it happens until it eventually stops happening. What could this be?
