  • YOUR PRADO - Age, Condition, Faults, and General Info.

I thought I'd make a thread where we could track all our specs, and reference threads of great mods done, and faults and problems we have encountered with our Prados.

    Model: 120 V6 5 speed auto

    Year: Sept 04

    Odometer: 32000 kms

Condition: Excellent, accept for some scrapes and scratches.

Factory Mods: Tint, Towbar, Rust proofing.

Mods: UHF radio, Nokia Car Kit, Scanguage, Safari Snorkel

Problems: I had the Fuel tank problem involving the blow back valve coming loose making gurgling sounds and a sound like a golf ball going across corrogated iron. - http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php?t=384
I had the fuel tank replaced twice for this problem

The rear diff needed to be replaced after it developed a whine at 90kph. If it does this again out of warranty, ill be fitting an arb locker.

My key split open, was replaced under warranty. http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... highlight=

Likes and dislikes: Its a fantastic touring vehicle. I can drive 700kms with one stop and get out feeling like i have just driven to the shops.

The power of the v6, and how quiet the inside of the vehicle is. Its off road performance in sand is hard to beat, tho the front cross member is its only drawback.

The stock tyres are crap, and nearly stuffed after 30,000 (the spare and a new tyre were put on only 10k ago and are just as warn as the rest now). These tyres are especially crap in dry loose dirt hill climbs.

Future Plans: Continue to set the vehicle up as a tourer. Cargo barrier coming in the next few months, followed by new tyres and a suspension lift at xmas.

A bullbar to come after that money permitting. Children will be on the way, so as soon as they are old enough (still very young tho), a camper trailer will be purchased and we will start doing some trips..

    Great idea Matt.

    Model: 120 V6 4 speed auto

    Year: 2003

    Odometer: 65000 kms

Condition: Excellent, but I've added some character to the underbody in the way of scrapes and stuff.

    Factory Mods: Towbar.

Mods: Pradopoint.com stickers, 2006 Hilux washer jets, Toyota Sovereign Alloy Bar, Toyota genuine insect screen and grill guard, Polyair suspension airbags, TJM Roofrack, Tracklander tube brackets, Custom 4" fishing rod tube, Twin screen DVD player, Single screen portable DVD player,GME TX3400 UHF Radio + 2x GME TX650 handhelds, GME UHF aerial, Mobile One AM / FM aerial, Roof rack mounted work lights, Anderson plug for charging the Camper Trailer battery, DIY Alloy Front Bashplate , Nane Spotlights, 2 x Waeco CF-35 Fridge / Freezer, 3 x additional rear 12 V power outlets,Outback Accessories Battery Tray with Exide N70 Aux battery and Redarc isolator , Outback Ideas front recovery points, Mega Grunt MX3 Series underbonnet Air Compressor, Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller.

Problems: Nothing of any note yet (touch wood). There's the odd bump noise from the slip joint - addressed on Thursday at service.

Likes and dislikes: Its a fantastic touring vehicle.

The power of the v6, and how quiet the inside of the vehicle is. Its off road performance in sand is hard to beat.

I got the rig 2nd hand with a set of Kelly Safari ATR's on it. I've no reason to dislike them yet and their only failings have been caused by my inexperience. ops:

Future Plans: The vehicle has been setup to tour. One more week of work and we hook up the Trak Shak Camper Trailer and bugger off around Oz. 8)

After that the wishlist includes a 2" lift and some really good tyres - for a lot more trips with the WA Pradopoint mob.

    Cheers
    Chippy

        Year: 2003

        Odometer: 136000 kms

Condition: Great, with the exception of a few minor alterations courtesy of some punk with a coin and a shopping trolley.

        Factory Mods: Tint.

Mods: Mickey Thompson MTZ, self fabricated Spare wheel holder spacers

Problems: The scratch and the trolley dent, i haven't experienced any real issues with it yet. I am going to take it in to Toyota and check all the recall items have been completed on the vehicle.

Likes: Goes like hell - pulls harder than a teenager with a Playboy(Thanks Gman ). Touring Range. Refinement. Everything else. Best car I have ever owned - it's a gem.

Dislikes:- Likes a drink, stock headlights are crap, IFS, lack of drivers seat adjustment, The Fuel gauge (until i worked it out...), rear door rattle.

I will vote for it
It shits me when people who have nothing better to do go around vandalising other peoples property. I have worked bloody hard to get where i am today and i don't understand why i should have to feel bad for allowing my self a few luxuries, which i still have to work bloody hard to keep.

Model: 120 Turbo Diesel 3 litre

              Year: Sept 03

              Odometer: 62000 kms

              Condition: Excellent.

              Colour: White (same as chippys)

Factory Mods: Towbar, Soverign Bullbar, Triple roof bars, Hard Spare Wheel Cover.

Mods: UHF radio, Safari Snorkel, Redarc duel battery isolator, ARB OME 2" suspension, Rated outback idea front recovery points, Bridgestone D694''s with 23k on them. IPF 900xs driving lights

              Problems: None at all.

Likes and dislikes: I bought this car as a tourer first, offroad car for our club outtings, and general work ferry. As a tourer it tows the camper trailer like it isnt there with good fuel consumption and with a range of 1200 klms on a tankful, makes it great on long trips. I love the cruise control and use it all the time, however it is a little savage on the kickdown and hunts for gears a bit, but no real problems.
As a package, its a great all round car.
I liked it a whole lot more when it still fitted in my garage after the lift 8)

Future Plans: Dtronic chip and a 3" exhaust before hitting the Cape next September. 8)

Model: 90 series Turbo Diesel GXL 4 speed auto

Year Nov 2000 (purchased new in Feb 2001)

                Odometer: 106000

                Condition: Very good

                Factory mods: Nothing

Problems: Blow up the front Diff driving out of a friends driveway, which was replaced under warrenty, Blow up the rear out 4Wdriving, got it replaced by a Toyota Delearship, they didn't do it right so it was replaced again after 900kms. Other then that no other problems.

Likes: Good Storage, looks pretty tough, dual fuel tanks, and pretty easy to mod and work on, and reliable.

Dislikes:I would like more articulation, and the diesel isn't the most efficient engine around, and it could use a little more power.

Future Plans: Lockers front and rear, snorkel, spotties, underbody protection, Transmission Temp gauge. Then eventually I'll take a look at putting a chip and new exhaust in.
                I had mental issues when I owned a Discovery.......But it's sorted now!
