The manual says this may affect operations does anyone else have this prob? It has been working great but like the rest of ppers if it doesn't work properly it just gives me the s--ts
I'm having the same problem with my 05 Grande. Are you getting any GPS info from the service screen? Is there anyway to test the internal GPS antenna?

It all works but its all pretty random in terms of location, which is a problem!! theres got to be a reset procedure somewhere. I went to a Toyota dealership and they suggested a new system and that the disc I bought was wrong. Given that it's from the same place that Toyota gets theirs??? Needless to say I just left. I'm hoping that other pper's might be able to help. You can move the location but it reverts back to sea after the ignition is turned off. Any suggestions or ideas appreciated!

Sorry Clackers what does the icon look like? is it the little sat dish in the corner of screen? i'll have to grab the car back off the missus tonight to check.Never noticed it before!! i went through the procedure that was provided in the early part of the thread which shows the actual coordinates. and it keeps moving when im on the go. Im sure it's something simple. wish i had a cheap $99 nav man much less complicated and cheaper than the whereis disc.

My Toyota disc shit the bed, had to spend 300 on a new v17... Now my override is also dead.. Bugger..

I have to figure how to burn a backup disc as I am pissed that the-original failed, don't want to get caught like that again.

if you have nero , go into data dvd create a backup and burn it at 4x speed . you need an 8.5 gb dvd+r disc . takes about 15 mins to do .
03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

It should say "GPS" on the top left corner of the screen, underneath the distance badge. I'm missing mine.

                  Here's a pic

Have you got anything underneath the distance badge?

I use a free program call ImgBurn. Worked very well and easy to use. For Whereis 17, a standard 4.7+ GB will do fine.

Grabbed the car off the miss us today and had a good look. Thanks for the picture. I don't have anything under the distance badge. So I'm assuming that it's cactus. I sent a reply to the other thread you started. I'll keep you posted if I have any joy! Regards.

My wife drives a Lexus 2007 with the factory GPS/Sound system, and the same lockout of the GPS derives us crazy as well. (You (1) cannot program a new destination into the GPS whilst the car is moving, ...or (2) play the DVD whilst moving, which is fine).

I find it particularly galling because they "know" when a passenger is in the 2nd seat, via the seat belt sensor, so why not just use that information.

Anyway the following website gives a solution for the Lexus unit, and you may find what they have to say useful?

                        http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-s...en-moving.html

I have no idea if it has any relevance to your Prado unit.

                        Best wishes,
