Yeah the GX has 245 on 6.5 inch rims, not sure what offset tho.

Edit - oh wait they are +15 =D

anyway, how does this help me get 285/70/17s on my VX?

This makes sense to me as the 4runner which also has the same FJ rims are also 1605. What I don't understand is why the GXL/VX/K are all reduced by an inch..
Not quite an inch, but 20mm:
The GX rims are a +15 offset and as a result the track is 1605mm, same as the FJ with a +15 offset.
The GXL/VX/Kakadu all have a +25 offset and therefore the track is 20mm narrower at 1585mm.

I think there is only one version of the FJ, these are the only car I have seen these rims on in Australia. The 4 Runner uses these rims on the KDSS trail edition as well.

The extra +10 offset really makes a difference I must say, but it may also be that I can now get full wheel lock.

i went with the stock wheel size for the prado GXL/VX as I live in SA and we have only a 15mm allowance in size. However I'm considering getting offroad rubber now something like 285/70/17s from what I know the offset will help reduce rubbing?

Are these the only wheels that we got with the FJ? The ARB cattledog shows a six spoker not dissimilar to the phoenix wheel.

So far I think the there is nothing negative to report about the change in track width, it’s only been a few days and few hundred K's on the clock.

    Some stats I found

    VX +25 = 62.4in / 1585
    FJ Rims +15 = 63.2in / 1605

This makes sense to me as the 4runner which also has the same FJ rims are also 1605. What I don't understand is why the GXL/VX/K are all reduced by an inch..

Anyway the turning circle seems to be improved and cornering has slight change it does drive different but not in a bad way.
